Debbie is a multi-faceted make-up artist and threading expert who brings her creativity, originality and individuality to each and every job. Originally from Peru, Debbie has always had a strong sense of creativity and design, along with a love for color. After earning a degree in Film in Peru, and being exposed to different areas of the industry Debbie discovered that her true passion was in beauty and make-up design. Debbie went on to study threading & makeup in Los Angeles in 1996 and since then she’s been working passionately in the industry that she loves. Debbie says:
“Every woman is beautiful in their own special way. I don’t use makeup to hide their flaws, I use it to enhance their natural beauty. My highest accomplishment is to see the boost of confidence on my clients faces after the first glance at the mirror. Confidence is the best gift I can give them and I can tell, that something on them has changed after that first look in the mirror. People always ask me how I get inspired before doing their makeup. A large part of that is seeing their already existing beauty as a person. After spending some time finding out more about them, I put myself in their shoes and aim to bring out the best of them, enhancing their true beauty.”

✨ Makeup artistry is about so much more than makeup! ✨

When I work with a client, I’m not just thinking about colours, how glamorous she wants to look, or which features to enhance. I’m looking at the face as a whole and thinking about how to create harmony and balance. ❤️

For this beautiful client, she already has gorgeous, expressive eyes. Rather than going all out with huge lashes and dramatic eyeshadow to make them stand out even more, I chose to softly frame them, enhancing their beauty without overpowering the rest of her features.

I then focused on giving her lips more definition and fullness, creating a beautiful balance between her eyes and lips. 💋

And the hair? That was just as important! The soft waves and face-framing shape were chosen to complement her facial structure and create a beautiful, flattering silhouette.

Every face is different, and that’s what makes makeup artistry so interesting! It’s not about following the same formula for everyone. It’s about understanding someone’s features, knowing what to emphasise, what to soften, and how to bring everything together.

Because to me, great makeup isn’t about changing someone’s face. It’s about understanding it. ✨💄

This lovely girl drove all the way from Rotorua to join her sister for this special evening, and I had the pleasure of getting her glammed up too! 🥰

We decided on a softer, more natural glam, using beautiful browns and soft pinks to complement her dress perfectly. We kept it elegant and fresh, without lashes, for a look that enhances her natural beauty without being too dramatic. 💄✨

Because sometimes, less is more! ❤️

Today I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Shona! 💕
She lives in Wellington and was visiting her daughter in Hamilton, but made the trip to Auckland for a one-on-one makeup lesson with me. How special is that?! 🥰

Shona had very little experience with makeup, and look at how beautifully she did! 😍 Swipe through this carousel to see her doing her own makeup, step by step, and the gorgeous result she achieved.

💙 My new daily wellness ritual

I’ve just started adding BIO-H® Pure of New Zealand high-strength Omega-3 Fish Oil to my daily routine, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how I feel with it over time.

At 49 and going through perimenopause, I’ve definitely noticed some changes that I wasn’t expecting. One thing I’ve particularly noticed is that I don’t always feel as sharp mentally as I used to — I can get distracted more easily, and my energy hasn’t always been where I’d like it to be.

Happy Monday fam!!! 🥰

Washed & straightened my hair today, and with my extensions I only need to do it every 5–6 days instead of daily, so now it almost feels like a special occasion 😂😂

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I managed to walk 25 kilometres between Saturday and Sunday, and my legs are totally fine, so I definitely need to keep it up — especially with summer just around the corner! ☀️
