Kahiau is a Pasifika-led nonprofit Organisation dedicated to serving our Pasifika community with compassion, connection, and care. Our mission is to connect Pasifika individuals and families to free or low-cost commu

nity services — especially those who feel unseen or unheard. We focus on Suicide Prevention and awareness, creating safe spaces for youth, and providing Advocacy for our Pasifika elders, particularly those with limited English or access to support. By breaking the silence and encouraging open, culturally safe conversations, we stand alongside those who are struggling especially within our Pasifika community — and those supporting them. We stand for dignity, inclusion, and culturally safe services. Whether it’s finding the right help, translating for elders, or simply being there to listen, Kahiau is here — for the community, by the community.

💛 31 DAYS TO GO, ĀIGA! 💛

The countdown to Race 4 Life – Your Voice Matters has officially begun, and all our teams are registered and ready to go! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

Race 4 Life is our annual su***de-prevention event bringing our community together for a day of fun, connection, teamwork and hope.

We race in honour of the loved ones we have lost to su***de and in support of those who may be going through a difficult time.

To our Pasifika āiga—especially our youth:

🗣️ You have a voice.
💛 Your words matter.
🤝 You are not alone.
🌤️ Difficult moments can change.
🙏🏽 Asking for help is a sign of strength.

Depression is real, and we must continue checking on our loved ones, listening without judgement and helping one another find support.

RACE 4 LIFE 2026 — REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!

Race 4 Life is back for 2026, and this year we’re coming together with even more purpose, more connection, and more love for our community.

This event is dedicated to families who have lost loved ones to su***de, and to those who are struggling quietly every day. We race not for speed… but for hope, awareness, and saving lives.

Gather your team, bring your energy, and get ready for an Amazing Race across West Auckland filled with challenges, learning, laughter, and moments that remind us why our village matters.

✨ Teams of up to 10
✨ Children under 13 have their own Race 4 Life Mini Zone
✨ Free community event
✨ Free Prizes, food, and a whole lot of connection

Every team must move together, finish together, and look after each other. This is not a race for first place — this is a race to save lives.

Meet Amelia

Amelia is a newly treasured part of our Kahiau family.

After sustaining a spinal cord injury at the age of 12, Amelia's life changed in many ways—but one thing has never changed: her bright smile, positive attitude, and willingness to get involved.

Amelia loves getting creative, meeting new people, and never shies away from getting her hands dirty. Whether it's arts and crafts, community outings, or trying something new, she's always ready to join in with a smile.

When Amelia joined Kahiau, her parents shared that she had found it difficult to connect with previous support providers, leaving the whole family feeling exhausted and unsure where to turn.

Today, Amelia has built meaningful relationships with our team and looks forward to spending time with people who understand, encourage, and support her to be herself.

We're incredibly proud to have Amelia as part of our Kahiau family, and we can't wait to see where her journey takes her next.

Meet Joe

Joe is a valued part of our Kahiau family.

Living with ADHD and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Joe continues to show us that determination, faith, and a positive mindset can take you a long way.

Each week, our team sits down with Joe to talk about his goals and the activities he'd like to do. Together, we support him with his daily routines, personal cares, and building the confidence to become more independent.

One thing we all love about Joe is his faith. Every morning, he reminds our team that devotion comes first. As Joe says,

"Putting God at the centre of my life has helped me be a better person"

Joe loves boxing, working out, reading, and challenging himself to try new things. Every day, we encourage him to believe that anything is possible when he puts his mind to it—and he continues to prove that to himself.

We're proud to have Joe as part of our Kahiau family. 💚

Kahiau Wellbeing sends a huge fa’afetai tele lava to Massey Matters and Mānutewhau Community Hub for having us be part of your Youth Week X‑POU event.

Such an amazing Kaupapa and a true reflection of the aroha, dedication, and hard work you both pour into our community every single day.

Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting so many youth, rangatahi, and tamariki — sharing laughs, stories, and real connection. These moments remind us why we do this mahi… to uplift, empower, and stand alongside our young people.

We’re grateful to be included, grateful for the space, and grateful for the chance to serve our community together.

Our kids and our adults speak in signs long before they speak in words.
Struggle doesn’t always show up loudly — sometimes it hides in small changes we miss until it’s too late.

This free community event is about recognising those early signs in both young people and adults, understanding why our loved ones often stay silent, and learning how to communicate in a way that is calm, safe, and culturally grounded.

No shame. No judgement. Just awareness, tools, and real conversations that can protect the people we love.

We’ll also be sharing a hot meal and beverage afterwards so we can talanoa, connect, and support one another as a village.
