You think it’s less calories. And on the label, it is. But everything is a measure in the body, and nothing you swallow is truly weightless.

The chemical calorie isn’t the kind you burn off on a walk - it’s the kind that sits, stagnates, and turns up years later as a health struggle you can’t quite trace back.

You can’t get rid of everything, but you can do what you can - and clearing what’s stacked up is where colon hydrotherapy comes in. This isn’t fear. It’s foundations.

The other day a lady told me she’d read you cannot have a colonic if you have IBS. So I wanted to talk about that - because the name itself is describing what it is. There’s something irritating the bowel.

In the medical world, they’re now officially calling it a functional disorder - a gut-brain miscommunication. A disorder of the gut-brain interaction. So you’re getting the bloating, cramping, unpredictable toilet times and stomach discomfort.

You’ve done the tests. They’re clear. Nothing structurally wrong. But something is unsettling the gut - the nerves in there are a little over-sensitive, and the chatter between gut and brain is getting quite noisy. They can’t find the single cause, so they call it irritable bowel syndrome.

Here’s what I find interesting: if the medical world itself is calling it a gut-brain issue - the conversation between the gut and the nervous system gone a bit haywire - then to me, that’s even more reason to consider a colonic.

Because when the gut isn’t being irritated, it isn’t firing those distress signals up to the brain. The very thing medicine is naming as the problem is the very thing this technique is designed to soothe.

So it’s not about yes or no to a colonic. It’s about timing and technique. If you’re in a flare, we won’t do one - we want you to come in when the body is calmer. We work with your nervous system. When it’s settled and you’re feeling better, that’s the time.

The warm water hydrates and softens what’s sitting there, so a sluggish, backed-up colon can let go and move - easing the bloating and pressure. And because Rojas is slow and unhurried, the body shifts out of stress and into rest and digest - exactly what an over-sensitive, wound-up gut is crying out for.

We’re not forcing anything, and we’re not fixing IBS overnight. We’re creating the calm, hydrated space your body needs to settle and rebalance.

The other day I had a lady say she’d read you cannot have a colonic if you have IBS, or irritable bowel syndrome. And so I wanted to talk about that - because the thing about irritable bowel is that the name is actually describing what it is. There’s something irritating the bowel.

And in the medical world, they’re officially calling it a functional disorder now - meaning there’s a gut-brain miscommunication. A disorder of the gut-brain interaction is what they’re saying. So you’re having the symptoms of bloating, cramping, unpredictable toilet times and stomach discomfort.

You’ve done the tests. The tests are clear. There’s nothing structurally wrong. But there is just something unsettling the gut. The nerves in there are a little bit over-sensitive, and the chatter between the gut and the brain is getting quite noisy. And so they can’t actually find the single cause - so they’ll call it irritable bowel syndrome.

But what I find really interesting is this: if the medical world itself is calling it a gut-brain issue - talking about the conversation between the gut and the nervous system that’s gone a bit haywire - then to me, that’s even more reason to consider a colonic.

And yes, it mustn’t just be any colonic. It really does need to be a very gentle one - like the Rojas technique we use at Bottoms Up. We are not pressurising. We are not forcing. We are looking to help the body calm down.

Because when the gut isn’t being irritated, it isn’t firing those distress signals up to the brain. So you’re not going to have those symptoms - or we’re going to ease them. The very thing medicine is naming as the problem is the very thing this technique is designed to soothe.
So it’s not about yes to a colonic or no to a colonic. It’s about the timing and the technique. If you’re in a flare, we’re not going to do a colonic - because we want you to come in when the body is a little bit calmer. We want to work with you. We want to work with your nervous system. And when it’s settled and you’re feeling a little better, that’s the time.

The structured water hydrates and softens what’s sitting there. So a sluggish, backed-up colon can now let go and move the irritants out - and that eases the bloating, the pressure and all the symptoms.

And because the Rojas technique is slow and unhurried, the body is able to shift out of that stress response and into rest and digest - which is exactly what an over-sensitive, wound-up gut is crying out for.

We are not forcing anything, and we’re not fixing IBS overnight. We are just giving the gut a calm, hydrated space to settle - creating the calm, hydrated space your body needs to settle and rebalance.

Health overwhelm is a condition now.

Health tip…don’t count calories

28/08/2026

Imagine if this client had listened to the nay-sayers and not given Colonics a go.

Imagine if she’d given up when her first few sessions were non eventful.

Imagine if she’d not listened to the deep knowing that this was working and to keep going.

Imagine if she hadn’t been consistent.

Imagine all of this still sitting inside her if she hadn’t.

Imagine how she felt when all of this came out in our last session.

Imagine her sense of relief and the change in her body and her mind.

Imagine this client saying she feels safe.

Imagine how special it is to journey with this client. 66 years of a hard life, laid down session by session. And after so long feeling unwell, she’s finally feeling better in herself, looking ahead with excited hope and purpose.

Can you imagine this for yourself? It begins with a single try.
