This event focuses on progressing rehabilitation beyond early stages, with practical frameworks for hip and pelvis care, late-stage loading, and return-to-sport decision making. Attendees will gain insights into movement quality, strength development, and readiness for performance, alongside hands-on application through real clinical scenarios.

Big learnings from year one of our Return to Play pilot!

Objective testing is helping strengthen rehab pathways, support better clinical decisions, and improve patient outcomes.

With 69 patients tested, pass rates improved from 9% to 36% after continued physio support - showing the value of ongoing rehab and evidence-informed care.

This pilot has also reinforced the importance of making services more accessible, scalable, and equitable by supporting testing within local clinics.

We’re excited for what’s next as we roll out updated protocols, frameworks, and resources across the network.

✨️Meet Mel! ✨️

Mel is a seasoned professional with a rich and diverse career spanning law enforcement, immigration, project coordination, and community engagement. Known for her calm demeanour, meticulous attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills, Mel has an ability to thrive in high-pressure environments while building meaningful relationships across sectors.

Mel's career began in the United Kingdom, where she worked in export coordination and retail before returning to New Zealand to join the NZ Police. Over more than a decade in policing, she served in frontline, community, and forensic roles. As a Scene of Crime Officer, Mel was recognised with the Wellington Crime Managers Award for Forensics in 2023 for her outstanding contributions.

Mel holds a Bachelor of Design from Massey University and multiple certifications in crime scene examination and policing. Her blend of analytical thinking, empathy, and administrative precision makes her a valuable asset to our Navigation team.

Beyond Basics: Leveraging Technology for Expert-Level ACL Rehab And Testing

RESS and VALD Health are launching the third session in a three-part RESS ACL Return to Play series.  

What we are covering: 

❓️How to track and measure your patients recovery journey to ensure they're on the right track

❓️Using force plates and dynamometry throughout rehab to assess performance and readiness for Return to Play

❓️Interpreting force plates metrics and force-time curves for deeper insights, plus how research is shaping best practice in ACL Rehab.

This initiative aligns with RESS’s commitment to clinical excellence and the pursuit of optimal patient outcomes.

Through this pilot, RESS is offering an independent platform to support our physiotherapy network with comprehensive reports and informed recommendations.

We appreciate the RESS Knee Clinical Governance Committee as well as VALD Health for their collaboration.

This week, we had the absolute privilege of welcoming Tamara from to speak with our team. Tamara is not only a breast cancer survivor but also a passionate advocate for early detection through self-checks and speaking up for your health.

Her story was powerful, her message clear: know your body, trust your instincts, and advocate for yourself. We’re so grateful for the time she spent with us and the inspiration she shared 💪✨

⭐️ Meet Rykie! ⭐️

Since 2021, Rykie has been a respected Clinical Advisor at RESS, recognised for her expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and her significant contributions to knee osteoarthritis pathways and shoulder protocols across the South Island.

As Chair of the RESS Shoulder Clinical Governance Committee, Rykie has led the creation of evidence-informed treatment plans for Shoulder Rotator cuff and Shoulder Instability injuries, both praised for their clarity, rigor, and patient impact.

Her professional accomplishments reflect a dedication to clinical excellence, integrity, and collaborative practice. She is additionally acknowledged for her discerning judgement in complex cases, notably regarding coverage and causation evaluations.

Rykie is a trusted ambassador for RESS, but outside of her clinical strengths, she is known around the office for her consistent charm, warmth, reliability, and team spirit.

A truly remarkable person to know and an invaluable member of our team.
