These are the pillars I’ve come back to again and again in my own experience of navigating midlife and menopause.

They’re not theory for me. They’re what’s helped me make sense of what was happening when things started to feel different — physically, emotionally and mentally.

Midlife Health
Looking after your body through movement, sleep, nutrition and understanding what is actually changing hormonally — so you’re not constantly second-guessing yourself or pushing through what your body is trying to tell you.

Emotional Wellbeing
This is where stress sits, along with overwhelm, anxiety, mental load and the emotional weight so many women carry quietly. For me, this has been about learning how to steady myself again when life feels full and relentless.

Transition
The in-between stage. The part where you’re not who you were, but you’re not quite sure who you’re becoming yet. This has been one of the most honest parts of midlife — and also the most uncomfortable to navigate without language for it.

Style
Not fashion for the sake of it, but the simple act of feeling like yourself again in what you wear, how you show up, and how you take care of yourself.

Nutrition
What you eat becomes more important in midlife, not in a restrictive way, but in a supportive one — helping with energy, sleep, mood and overall wellbeing.

Connection
Real conversations, shared experiences and being reminded that none of us are going through this alone, even when it feels like we are.

These are the Menostyle pillars.

They’ve helped me make sense of my own midlife experience, and they’re the foundation of everything I share here.

If you’re somewhere in this season too — pre, peri or post menopause — I hope they help you make sense of yours as well

Some Days I Want to Grab My Passport and Run Away

Some days it feels like the world is sitting on top of you.

You can’t see the wood for the trees.

The phone calls from children.
The concerns about ageing parents.
Work deadlines.
Relationships.
The bills.
The appointments.
The endless mental load that seems to belong to everyone except you.

And sometimes, if I’m being completely honest, I just want to grab my passport and disappear for a while.

Not forever.

Just long enough to hear my own thoughts again.

Midlife can feel like standing in the middle of a busy intersection with traffic coming from every direction. Everyone needs something. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone expects you to know what to do.

And somewhere along the way, you stop asking yourself what you need.

What I’ve learned is that clarity rarely arrives when we’re pushing harder.

It arrives when we pause long enough to reconnect with ourselves.

Sometimes that looks like taking a walk without your phone.

Sometimes it’s sitting quietly with a cup of tea before the rest of the house wakes up.

Sometimes it’s a few slow breaths when everything feels overwhelming.

Sometimes it’s writing yourself a letter and asking, “What do I need right now?”

There isn’t one perfect answer.

The answer is whatever helps you come back to yourself.

Even the people we admire most have difficult days. Nobody has it all figured out. Nobody moves through life without moments of doubt, overwhelm, frustration, or exhaustion.

The difference is that some people have learned how to return to themselves when life feels heavy.

That’s a skill.

And like any skill, it can be learned.

If you’re in a season where everything feels too much, you don’t need to have all the answers today.

You don’t need to fix every problem.

You don’t need to carry everything at once.

You only need to find the next thing that helps you feel grounded.

One breath.
One walk.
One conversation.
One moment of stillness.

Because sometimes the bravest thing we can do isn’t run away.

It’s stay present long enough to hear what our own wisdom is trying to tell us.

What helps you find your way back to yourself when life feels overwhelming?

The Sleep Reset

The first pillar of MenoStyle

For a long time, I thought feeling tired was just part of being a busy woman in midlife.

I'd wake up feeling like I hadn't really rested. By mid-afternoon I'd be pushing through, relying on willpower to get through the day. I didn't necessarily slow down or reach for comfort foods — I just kept going. And usually ended up feeling more tired, and more irritable, as the day went on.

Like many women, I also enjoyed a glass of wine in the evening. It felt like a way to relax and switch off after a busy day.

What I didn't realise was how much it was affecting my sleep.

I could fall asleep easily enough, but I’d often wake up hot and sweaty in the night, unable to get back to sleep easily. The early hours would stretch on, and by morning I felt flat, foggy, and already behind before the day had started.

As I learned more about menopause and started paying closer attention to my own patterns, I made some changes. One of the most significant was reducing alcohol.

The difference wasn’t instant, but gradually my sleep became deeper and more restorative. I stopped waking in that overheated, restless way, and started waking clearer, calmer and more steady.

What I’ve learned through both study and personal experience is that sleep sits at the centre of our health.

When sleep is disrupted, everything feels harder.

Energy drops.Stress feels bigger.Focus becomes harder.Patience runs thinner.

That’s why sleep is the first pillar of MenoStyle.

Because when sleep improves, everything else becomes easier.

What has made the biggest difference to your sleep in midlife?l

The Day My Body Finally Exhaled

It wasn’t one dramatic moment.
It was more of a slow realisation — noticing, over time, that my body wasn’t actually relaxing, even when my life was calm.

My shoulders sat slightly lifted.
My breath stayed shallow.
My heart rate hovered just a little too high.
There was a steady hum under the surface, like my system was bracing for something that wasn’t happening.

That’s when it became clear:
This wasn’t personality.
This wasn’t mindset.
This was physiology.

Why Midlife Feels Like This

As oestrogen declines, we lose some of the buffering effects that help us recover from stress as easily as we once did.
The nervous system can feel more reactive.
Sleep becomes lighter.
Digestion slows.
Temperature regulation changes.
Small things can feel bigger than they are.

This isn’t “being overwhelmed”.
It’s a body that doesn’t settle as easily as it used to.

The Pattern That Helped My System Settle

I didn’t shift this with one thing.
It came from small, consistent practices that helped my body feel more supported.

• Morning meditation — helped me start the day with more calm and awareness
• Yoga — supportive movement that helped regulate how I felt in my body
• Strength training earlier in the day — what worked best for my energy personally
• Walking after meals — supports me feeling more settled and less “wired”
• Morning light exposure — even a few minutes outside helps anchor the day
• Lighter evening meals — less digestive load before sleep
• A consistent wind-down routine — skincare, quiet, low stimulation
• A cool, dark bedroom — supports better sleep conditions

None of this is dramatic.
It’s just physiology responding to clearer, more consistent cues.

What Can Shift Relatively Quickly

When the load on the system reduces, some women notice early signs of settling:

• Slightly deeper sleep
• Less tension through the shoulders and jaw
• A calmer overnight heart rate feeling
• Fewer early-morning wake-ups
• More stable daytime energy

These aren’t transformations.
They’re early signals that things are shifting.

What Takes Longer

• Hormonal changes
• Sleep architecture
• Metabolic shifts
• Stress reactivity patterns
• Temperature regulation changes

These tend to shift over weeks and months, not days.

The Shift I Noticed

When the pattern became consistent, my body felt less reactive.
My sleep improved gradually.
My energy became more stable.

It wasn’t a reset.
It was a softening — built from small things done consistently.

The MenoStyle Principle

Support the body consistently, and it tends to respond in kind.

Not perfectly.
Not instantly.
But noticeably over time.

What if the woman you’ve been neglecting is the one who needs your love the most?

Today I finally pressed publish on something I’ve been quietly building for a long time.
Menostyle is my evidence‑based approach to midlife health — nutrition, strength, sleep, and hormone balance, grounded in my PREKURE and MyMT™ training and my own lived experience.
If you’re navigating midlife changes and want clarity instead of confusion, this is for you.
Here’s my first post — the story behind why I created Menostyle.

How My Midlife Hormones Turned My Life Upside Down — And What I Did Next The Moment Everything Changed Midlife didn’t arrive quietly. It arrived like a storm. One day I was functioning, coping, pushing through like I always had. And then suddenly — I wasn’t. My sleep went sideways. My energy...

I’m really proud to share that I’ve officially completed my Menopause Practitioner course with MyMT.

One of the most powerful parts of this journey was using myself as the case study. Instead of just learning the theory, I lived it — tracking, testing, adjusting, and really tuning in to what my body was telling me.

That experience changed everything.

It gave me a much deeper level of understanding and empathy, because I wasn’t just studying menopause… I was navigating it in real time. I saw firsthand how sleep, stress, nutrition, movement, and hormones all connect — and how small, consistent changes can make a real difference.

It’s given me knowledge I trust, because I’ve applied it. I know what works, what feels realistic, and what actually supports women in everyday life.

Menopause isn’t something to just “get through” — it’s a transition that can be supported, understood, and even empowering with the right tools.

This is a big step forward for me and for what I’m building with Menostyle — helping women feel like themselves again, in a way that’s practical, supportive, and sustainable.

If you’re on this journey too, you’re not alone 🤍
