China’s Supreme People’s Court announced the ex*cution of three men convicted of child s*x crimes, publishing case details of each and describing the punishments as proof of the country’s zero tolerance for anyone who harms a child.

One of the men, identified only by his surname, Guo, was a primary school teacher found guilty of r*ping six female students, all under the age of 14, more than 100 times between 2013 and 2019. A second man, a laborer surnamed Shang, was found to have s*xually ab*sed eight girls through deceit or force between 2011 and 2020, having met his victims in parks, on buses and at kindergarten gates. In a separate case detailed by the court, a third offender, surnamed Zhao, used his position as an instructor at an illegal education center to detain dozens of minor students through beatings, forced labor and confinement between April 2018 and March 2019, during which he r*ped eight minor female students, including three under 14.

The Supreme People’s Court said the sentencing and ex*cutions demonstrated the country’s zero tolerance of child s*x ab*se and were expected to serve as a further deterrent to offenders. The court also noted that most perpetrators of child s*x ab*se cases were found to be family members, teachers or neighbors of the victims, or had met them online, and said children in rural areas whose parents had moved away for work, along with children with intellectual disabilities, were especially vulnerable to being targeted.

Under China’s Criminal Law, any person who engages in s*xual in*******se with a girl under the age of 14 is deemed to have committed r*pe and faces a heavier punishment. The court urged educational and training institutions that work with children to tighten supervision and improve employee management, framing the ex*cutions as part of a broader effort to protect minors and hold accountable those in positions of trust over them.

We live in a world that teaches us to rush.

Rush the morning.
Rush the healing.
Rush towards the next goal.
Rush through the very moments we once prayed for.

But our mauri asks for something different.

Space to breathe.
Time to return to ourselves.
Small rituals that remind the tinana it doesn’t always need to be moving onto the next thing.

That intention sits at the heart of our Hinātore Set, creating a moment of light, warmth and stillness within the everyday.

Because wellbeing doesn’t always need to be another thing we chase.

To me it’s found when we slow down enough to notice what’s already here.

If you’re ready to bring a little more intention into your everyday, comment LIGHT and I’ll send you the link to our Hinātore Set.
