Influenza A is putting significant pressure on health services
There is currently a high level of influenza (flu) circulating in our communities, and health services across New Zealand are experiencing exceptional demand.
We’re asking our patients to help us keep everyone safe and make sure those who need urgent care can get it.
If you have flu or respiratory symptoms:
Please phone us first before coming into the practice. Our team will assess your symptoms and arrange a face-to-face appointment if needed. This also helps us keep unwell patients separate from others who may be more vulnerable.
It’s not too late to get your flu vaccination.
This season’s vaccine is a good match for the strains currently circulating. Please contact us if you would like to arrange your vaccination.
If you’re unwell:
• Stay home where possible
• Rest and drink plenty of fluids
• Wash or sanitise your hands regularly
• Cover coughs and sneezes
• Wear a mask when appropriate, particularly around others
Please keep 111 and Emergency Departments for serious or life-threatening illness.
Our team is continuing to prioritise acute care while managing increased demand. You may notice some changes in how we manage respiratory appointments, including phone triage and separating patients with respiratory symptoms from other patients.
Thank you for your patience, kindness, and support as we work to keep our patients, community, and healthcare teams safe.
