✨ Babies Grow. Connection Stays. ✨

Today, during Infant Massage Awareness Week, I bumped into another beautiful mama who attended one of my 5-week infant massage classes here in the community.

Her little girl is now 2½ years old.

As we chatted, she shared that she had just dropped her daughter off at daycare alongside another little one whose mama had attended the very same infant massage class all those years ago.

My heart smiled.

What began as two mothers sitting together on the floor with their babies has grown into a friendship between two toddlers who now love spending time together.

Because isn’t only about building a relationship with your pēpi.

It’s also about building beyond the walls of your home.

It creates .

It creates belonging.

It creates that continue long after the classes have finished.

This mama also shared that infant massage remains part of her daughter’s bedtime routine. She has noticed that on the evenings she includes a gentle puku massage, her little one often settles within minutes and enjoys a restful night’s sleep. On the nights life gets busy and it doesn’t happen, sleep can be much more unsettled.

Babies remember.

Their bodies remember.

Their nervous systems remember.

This is the power of nurturing touch.

Through repeated experiences of loving, responsive touch, babies learn what it feels like to be safe, secure, comforted, and loved. These early experiences help build the foundations for wellbeing that can last a lifetime.

As I have moved through this week, I have bumped into so many parents whose babies are no longer babies. Yet every conversation carries the same warmth.

They remember the classes. They remember the connections. They remember how it felt.

And perhaps that’s what touches me most.

The impact of infant massage doesn’t end when a baby starts crawling, walking, or talking.

It becomes part of their story.

Thank you, beautiful Kenzie, for sharing your journey with me today. You filled my cup and reminded me once again why this work matters so much. 💚

🌻 Nurturing touch today. Stronger connections for a lifetime.

✨ J is for Joy... ✨

Seeing little hands nurture, comfort, and care through the power of play. 🌱❤️

During our weekly sessions dolls, soft toys and even Kiwi and his favourite friend Kauri Mr Snail are massaged, fed, cuddled, sung to, and loved.

In these simple moments of play, children are learning empathy, kindness, connection, and what it means to care for another.

✨ creating space for joy ✨

Meet Jo and her adorable youngest. 🌱🌻

Jo first came to one of my community infant massage classes with her eldest child. Over the years, she returned with her second baby, and then again with her third.

Today, as I was driving along, I spotted Jo walking down the road. There just happened to be a carpark ahead, so I pulled over to say hello.

And I am so glad I did.

That smile says it all. As for little Miss, we had a delightful conversation of our own, complete with plenty of smiles.

As we stood chatting and catching up, I was reminded that joy is often found in the simplest of moments.

A familiar face.
A shared memory.
A conversation that picks up right where it left off.

Jo is one of those mamas who carries a beautiful energy wherever she goes - joyful, passionate, and deeply devoted to her children.

Moments like these remind me that our communities matter.

When we take the time to connect, support one another, and walk alongside families through the seasons of life, something beautiful happens.

Relationships grow.
Children grow.
Communities grow.

Sometimes we may only walk together for a short while, but the connections we create can last a lifetime.

That is the power of community.

That is the power of connection.

And that is what brought me so much joy today. ❤️

What has brought you joy today?

🍂❄️ What if winter wasn’t asking us to do more... but inviting us to be more present?

Welcome Winter. Welcome June.

Today marks the first day of winter here in Aotearoa - a season that encourages us to pause, gather our energy, and turn our attention towards what matters most.

Throughout June, we’ll be exploring the word JUNE together:

✨ J is for Joy✨ U is for Understanding✨ N is for Nourish✨ E is for Engage

Four gentle reminders to carry us through the colder months.

As the temperatures drop outside, may we find ways to create warmth within - through connection, kindness, nurturing touch, and moments of simple joy.

Who’s ready to journey through June with us? ❤️

👑 King’s Birthday Public Holiday 🌬️

It’s blowing a gale out there, but that didn’t stop these two from getting out and moving.

A special shout-out to - you are such an inspiration in our community. It was so neat bumping into you at .your.fitness today.

If I’m honest, Coleman and I don’t always find it easy. Between injuries, recovery, fatigue, and a few extra challenges life throws our way, sometimes simply showing up feels like a victory in itself.

Today started with me accidentally stabbing my finger while sorting recycling to take to .co.nz. Along the way, we discovered that Coleman and Leigh had something in common. Any guesses? 🎶 Their favourite Michael Jackson songs: Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean and Bad.

We only managed half a workout before my wound reopened, but you know what? We still got out. We moved our bodies. We connected with good people. We tried.

And sometimes, trying is enough.

Movement keeps the energy flowing. When we stop moving, we can become stuck - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

So whatever commitment you made to yourself at the beginning of this year in support of your health and wellbeing, keep going.

There will be setbacks.
There will be unexpected curveballs.
There will be days when progress looks very different from what you imagined.

That’s okay.

What matters is that each day you get back up and give it another go.

Don’t give up on yourself.

You have one precious life. Keep showing up. Keep moving forward. One step, one breath, one day at a time. ❤️

I wonder who’s going to be the first to guess which TWO DVDs Coleman managed to score today… 👀🎬

Clue: it has absolutely nothing to do with his newly acquired op shop T-shirt or soundtrack obsession… 😅

After his clinic appointment in Whangārei, we squeezed in a very well-deserved op shop stop - and honestly, how often do you walk in and find the exact things sitting right at the top of your wish list?

Epic. ✨

Wishing you all a wildly blessed and joy-filled weekend.

With every conscious breath, invite the golden hues of change, the fiery reds of transformation, and the earthy browns of grounding into your being.

As the leaves surrender with grace, so too can you release what no longer serves your highest self.

Inhale renewal. Exhale resistance.

Let the wisdom of nature remind you that transformation is not an ending, but a beautiful return to your true essence.

Smile of the Day - Coleman made a surprise appearance at tonight’s Stroke Review and, as always, brought joy to us all.

No matter whether I am leading an instructor training, a refresher day, or a Stroke Review, Coleman loves to pop in and say hello to the ladies. He has become a treasured part of our IAIM whānau.

What delights me most is how deeply he remembers.

As soon as he hears our familiar songs, he joins in with confidence. He finishes the words, “I love… YOU,” sings along to “Tommy Thumb” as we massage each tiny finger, and when we begin the Moonwalk across baby’s tummy, Coleman is there in an instant with his best Michael Jackson moves.

This is the beauty of mirroring and repetition. These loving experiences become imprinted in the body and the heart. Long after the massage itself, the memories remain.

Coleman was massaged as a baby, and even now those songs and movements awaken something familiar and comforting within him.

And, of course, his presence lights up every room and brings a smile to every face.

Gotta love this beautiful young man. 💛

🌟 Life is busy, but there is always time to celebrate something this meaningful.

Congratulations to our newest Certified Infant Massage Instructor. 💛👶

What an incredible achievement.

You trusted the process. You invested in yourself. You completed your training. You delivered your very own five-week infant massage programme. And now you are ready to support families in your community.

Your work is about so much more than massage.

It is about helping parents slow down, tune in, and build a loving connection with their baby through nurturing touch.

The ripple effect of this work will be felt for generations.

Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and belief in the power of connection.

What a weekend - a beautiful reminder that sharing is caring 🌱🌻🎶

At the recent Fat Freddy’s Drop 21st Anniversary concert at Auckland Town Hall, Coleman generously lent his Michael Jackson glove to a new friend, Lizzy, who moved out from the UK 7 years back.

The concert was a little overwhelming at first, so we found a quiet space at the back where he could ground himself. He sat on the steps, taking it all in from a place where he felt safe. In his own time, he stood up, joined in, met several young people, and shared a few Michael Jackson-style dance moves. 🕺✨

It was a special night out with his siblings - a xmas gift from 2025 that turned into a memory we will treasure forever.

Why am I sharing this?

Because sometimes we need to be reminded that our children are children first, before any diagnosis.

When Coleman was born, we were told not to get our hopes up. But I trusted my mother’s intuition and never gave up on him.

Today, he is enjoying road trips, concerts, walks, friendships, and life’s adventures.

I share this for any parent who may be facing uncertainty right now.

Trust your heart.
Believe in your child.
Take one step at a time.

It may not happen in the timing we expect, but with love, patience, and perseverance, we get there…

And when we do, every step is worth it. 🌱❤️
