How many workers do you see wearing a respirator over a beard? 🧔

It’s a common sight, but it’s a serious safety risk. Studies show that even a day or two of stubble is enough to significantly compromise a respirator’s seal, creating "leak paths" that allow harmful contaminants to bypass the mask and head straight to your lungs.

Being clean-shaven at the start of your shift is essential to ensure you are getting the level of protection your respirator is designed to provide. However, we know that being clean-shaven isn't the only piece of the puzzle. Proper fit testing is the critical step to verify that your chosen equipment is actually sealing to your face shape. Without a professional fit test, you might have a false sense of security, even if you are clean-shaven.
