June is Uterine Cancer Awareness Month. 🧡

Uterine cancer (also known as endometrial or womb cancer) is the most common gynaecological cancer, yet it’s often not talked about enough.

The #1 sign to watch for? Unusual or irregular bleeding - especially if you have already gone through menopause.

Other signs include persistent tummy pain, unusual discharge or pain during in*******se. While these symptoms don't always mean cancer, they do mean it's time for a check-up.

Don't navigate it alone:
• Write down your symptoms before your visit.
• Bring a support person to your appointment.
• Always advocate for your health - if something feels "off," keep asking questions.

Questions? We’re here to help. Reach out to the team at ASC Gynaecology.

April is Adenomyosis Awareness Month

Many women suffer through painful or heavy periods without realising there is a name for what they are experiencing. Adenomyosis occurs when the cells that normally line the inside of the uterus grow into the muscle wall.

Common symptoms include:
• Heavy or painful periods
• Chronic pelvic pain
• Pain during s*x
• Bleeding between periods

Because symptoms often overlap with endometriosis, it can be difficult to navigate on your own. Adenomyosis typically affects women in their reproductive years and often resolves after menopause as oestrogen levels drop.

If you are experiencing unusual bleeding or persistent pain, please don't wait to seek help.

Symptoms are personal. Support should be, too. 💛

For some, endometriosis is silent. For others, it causes debilitating pain, exhaustion, and challenges with fertility. This March, ASC Gynaecology is highlighting the importance of specialised care for this complex condition.

Many patients start with an ultrasound. While helpful for spotting ovarian cysts, a "clear" scan doesn't always mean endometriosis isn't present. Our specialists look deeper, using surgical insights and clinical expertise to stage the disorder (Stages I–IV) and create a tailored plan.

From pain management and inflammation control to advanced surgical excision, we are here to help you regain your quality of life.

If you would like to arrange an appointment with one of our specialists, contact us on 021 024 51019 or email [email protected].

February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Ovarian cancer is often called the "silent" disease because symptoms can be vague and easily mistaken for other conditions. At ASC Gynaecology, we want to empower you with the knowledge to listen to your body.

Keep an eye out for the four most common symptoms:
• Persistent pelvic or abdominal pain.
• Increased abdominal size or persistent bloating.
• Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite.
• Needing to urinate more urgently or frequently.

Early detection saves lives. If you are experiencing new or concerning symptoms, please reach out to your GP or specialist.

Feeling a persistent v***al itch? You're not alone. About 1 in 10 women see a doctor for a persistently itchy v***a at some stage in their life.

Pruritus V***ae (Itchy V***a) means the itch is persistent and causing distress. It's a symptom, not a condition, and it can be caused by many different things.

Causes can include:
• Infections (like thrush or some STIs)
• Sensitivity to common products (soaps, detergents, panty liners)
• Skin conditions (like eczema or psoriasis)
• Changes related to menopause or pregnancy

If you have a persistently itchy v***a, don't be embarrassed—it's important to see a doctor to find the cause.

We are here to help you get the right diagnosis and treatment.
