Today was a great day for harvesting.

"Ngā mihi ki a Tama-nui-te-rā,"

Tūpakahi,
Tūpakihi, as we have been taught, is the natural go to for helping deep tissue and joint pain. Included is arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, and gout. This plant is also widely used to help treat broken and fractured bones.

Karamu:
Kidney and Bladder: Boiled young shoots or leaf infusions were traditionally drunk as a diuretic to help with urinary retention, bladder inflammation, and kidney troubles.

Mahoe Skin sores and burns

Manono
The crushed or boiled bark served as a topical remedy for cuts, wounds, and skin irritations.

Koromiko
The young leaf tips can be chewed for diarrhoea and dysentery. Dried leaves sent to New Zealand soldiers in the Second World War for this purpose were very effective. Koromiko leaves can also be used for ulcers and sores and have been used as a poultice on babies for skin sores.
