Tiramarama nei e ✨
Oh, how our tamariki shine and sparkle!

With wāhi tākaro spread throughout our whare from our rūma noho Kaunoti, across our deck space Huarewa and out onto the lush whenua 🌿 the tamariki, māmā and kaimahi have lay, played and rolled far and wide!

Inspiring kōrero has taken place with our nohinohi centred in the middle 💫 eyeing one another, reaching and touching little fingertips of their nearby friends and playing peekaboo with gleeful giggles! 🫟

And there are pēpi, nohinohi and their whānau who leave our whare to venture off ⛵️, but return to show us their bigger selves and fill our hearts some more 💗 Sending a biiig mihi to all our mokopuna who popped in to say a happy “kia ora e te whānau” to us again! 👋🏽

And just as many māmā become tuakana to first time visiting wāhine, we see this modelled through the tamariki too.. runners showing mindfulness of rollers, walkers taking care with their crawling friends – Tiramarama nei e 🌟

Whare Āmiorangi has held birthing practice, whānau birth stories, and tamariki of all ages and stages this past week,

And this week ahead we rest her for a few days…

🌺 Kia ora rā e te whānau! 🐝

We hope the holidays have started off well, as the day-to-day rhythm may look a little different with older tamariki at home and Daylight Savings underway..

☀️ Tamanuiterā has been on our side this week and for us here in our Mamia whare – Āmiorangi 🏠 we have spread our play, creativity and kōrerorero out onto the deck, and even bare foot through the lush grass 🍀

We welcomed new whānau into our folds this week, as well as returning māmā & their new little ones for first postnatal visits after their Kōpū Antenatal wānanga! From bellies to bundles, our pēpi massage morning gathered & reunited new & old friends 🐛🦋

Thank you to our dear friend Riz for guiding these beautiful & keen māmā with their loving touch as each doted on their pēpi 💜 “..hōmai tō kiri, kia ronga atu au” 💜

Te Whakawhitinga o te rā o Kōanga☀️🌱🌿

Earlier this week Tamanuiterā rose due East on the horizon from Ātea a Rangi - one of many tohu of Spring that our tīpuna would watch for.

Daylight Savings starts this weekend (clocks forward ⏰➡️) and as we farewell Winter we want to mihi to the many hands ✋🏽🤚🏽 and hearts 💕 that supported our Mamia pēpi and whānau to be warmer and healthier over winter.

To Mel, Alana and Mary from the Child Healthy Housing Programme - kei runga noa atu koutou ❄️🏠🪟🪣

To our generous knitting and crocheting friends: Shiree McCallum, the Yarny Army, Ella’s Nana Gayle Taylor, Sue and Pete Barrett and others - we appreciate your time and our mums and bubs love your beautiful woolies and blankets 🧶✨

And a piiiki Mamia mihi to Matua Troy Gardiner from Taikura Rudolf Steiner School for the giant hue. They are dry and we will gently removed the seeds to germinate this week… watch this space! 🌱👏🏽

This week we had the lovely Josie Morris visit us from EIT to share the many free courses and study pathways. Such a motivating and inspiring morning, with many 2027 study seeds planted 🌱✨

And looking ahead to next week, we wish those of you home with older tamariki a great holidays! Enjoy some free and easy connection & time together - nature walks🚶‍♂️☘️🍁🌸, parks & playgrounds🛝, huts⛺️, stories📚, cuddles🥰 , treasure hunts🗺️📍.

We are a proud bilingual whare and whānau at Mamia🏠, and this Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori we have celebrated te reo Māori and our tāonga tuku iho🌀 in ways that connect us to our people, our places and each other while:

☀️ Enjoying the warmth of Tamanuiterā with māmā and tamariki,

⛰️ exploring Aotearoa place names and sharing the places we belong to,

🎵 serenading our Rongomaiwahine with Kahungunu waiata,

🎨 soaking up the sun while painting Waipureku kōhatu with colourful kōwhaiwhai and whakataukī,

🧶 chatting over tāniko projects in progress,

🌘🌗 reintroducing our daily Heretaunga maramataka kōrero,

👏🏽 and cheering on our inquisitive and determined tama-ariki as they master tummy time, rolling, crawling and those all-important first steps 👣

We also enjoyed a full whare for our second Oranga Niho visit with Whaea Deb. By lunchtime we had 10+ māmā and kaimahi with new dental health wisdom🪥, 10 dental registered little ones 🦷, and three tama toa with beautiful smiles heading on an adventure down to see Whaea Deb in her waka niho next week 🚐 - Mauri tū mauri ora e te whānau!

Tau kē te whakanui i tō tātou reo, ō tātou hononga, me ō tātou tamariki, mokopuna i te wiki nei. Tirohia ēnei whakaahua rerehua📸🤩

Been thinking about kāinga lately, or the lack of… gratitude, especially seeing our lovely new taonga arrive mō ngā mokopuna, & knowing how important kāinga is for wellbeing, for growth & play 🌾🧶🕸️

𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗸𝗼̄𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼
🪥𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔 𝗡𝗜𝗛𝗢, 𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛🦷
We are learning, asking and talking all things Oranga Niho this morning - naumai, we’d love you to join us👶🏽😁

Last month we had dental therapist and educator Deborah Papuni with us for the morning. 𝗪𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗣𝗦 about why oral health and looking after our own and our pēpi's niho🦷 is so important. Lots of you asked if she would be back and as promised we are thrilled to have Deb in the whare with us again today 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬:𝟯𝟬𝗮𝗺.

We had time to ask questions, we were able to dental register our little ones, we learned how to ‘lift the lip’ and check for early signs of tooth decay, and we gained some great tips and insights into teething, brushing and what kind of toothpaste our bubba’s need (spoiler alert - they do not need sparkly expensive 0-2yo paste…😯😮‍💨).
