🍚 Can You Eat Rice on the Candida Diet?
Rice can be a confusing food when you’re following a Candida-conscious diet. Is brown rice okay? What about white rice, basmati, jasmine or wild rice?
The answer isn’t necessarily a simple yes or no. 🌿
Different types of rice have different nutritional profiles, fibre content and effects on blood glucose. Brown rice, for example, contains more fibre and nutrients than white rice because the bran and germ remain intact. Wild rice is technically a different type of grass altogether and is also a good source of fibre and plant-based nutrients.
But that doesn’t automatically mean you need to avoid every other type of rice.
When you’re working on your diet and digestive health, the bigger picture matters. Your overall eating pattern, portion sizes, blood sugar balance, fibre intake and how your individual body responds to particular foods are all worth considering.
For some people, a modest serving of rice can fit comfortably into a balanced eating plan. Others may find that reducing refined carbohydrates helps them feel better, particularly if they’re trying to keep meals lower on rapidly digested carbohydrates.
And remember: a Candida-conscious diet shouldn’t mean living on a tiny list of “allowed” foods! It’s about building a nutritious, sustainable way of eating that supports your overall health.
We’ve taken a closer look at the different types of rice — including brown, white, basmati, jasmine and wild rice — and where they may fit into a Candida diet.
