Recycle South Recycle South is the fresh, new name for Southland DisAbility Enterprises. Recycle South is one of Southland’s key recycling services.

We enrich the lives of people with disabilities by providing meaningful employment through operating a successful recycling and environmentally aware business. We are a registered charity offering those in our community who live with disabilities meaningful employment under the basis that it’s not just work – but quality work. With recycling and sustainability at our core, honest, respectful, and

progressive mindsets are what we care about— and providing equal opportunity to all people. Our facilities can process and recycle plastics, e-waste, paper, cardboard, tin, aluminium, most agricultural plastics and more. We even offer a secure document destruction service, packaging products for companies - in fact, if you can think it up, we'll give it a go! Nothing beats a good feed together! Recently our crew enjoyed a delicious Chinese lunch shout - plenty of full containers, full bellies and happy faces! 😋

A very special shoutout to Community Trust South for helping make meals like this possible for our team. Your support means so much and gives us the opportunity to come together, share a meal and enjoy some great company.

🏉 Stags Ticket Winner – Kirsty’s Night at Rugby Park last Thursday!

Kirsty was our lucky winner of the Stags tickets, and despite the freezing Southland weather, she had an awesome night out!

When asked what her favourite part of the game was, Kirsty said:

“I enjoyed the whole thing, but the people yelling out ‘Southland!’ and all the kids joining in too – it was funny!”

It sounds like the atmosphere, the crowd, and seeing so many young supporters enjoying themselves made the night extra special.

We’re so pleased you had a fantastic evening with your brother Luke and the kids Kirsty!

🔵🔴 Boccia Club Fun! 🔴🔵

Our latest Boccia Club was another fantastic afternoon filled with plenty of laughs, cheering, and some very competitive games!

Congratulations to Ryan and Nick, who once again proved they’re the team to beat, holding on to their Boccia Club Champions title. 🏆

A huge shout out to Jenny and Greg, who gave the champions a real challenge and finished in a well-deserved second place. It was a close contest and great to watch!

Thanks to everyone who took part and cheered each other on. It’s always wonderful to see so much teamwork, encouragement, and fun. We can’t wait for the next Boccia Club in September!

Michael has been busy processing bags and bags of plastic strapping, helping turn waste into valuable recyclable material. No matter the task, Michael is always happy to lend a hand - whether he’s out on pickups with Gina or filling in with the team at Tiwai.

Always willing to help, always up for a good laugh, and always giving 100% - thanks for everything you do, Michael! We really appreciate your positive attitude and team spirit.

Recycle South is closed today as we observe Southland Anniversary Day.

We take it in August (not at Easter) to break up the July–October stretch with no public holidays.

🌟 A VERY SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO MIKE – 25 YEARS at ILT Stadium Southland🌟

This one is pretty special to us. ❤️

We had the privilege of working with Mike and helping him transition into mainstream employment at ILT Stadium Southland on 23 August 2001 - just one month into my own new job.

And now, 25 years later, he is still there! What an incredible achievement Mike. 👏

We are so incredibly proud of you and the dedication, loyalty and commitment you have shown over the past 25 years. Anyone who knows Mike knows he will always go above and beyond to help someone in need. ❤️

And man, ILT Stadium Southland certainly knows how to celebrate these amazing milestones! 🎈🎉 It is fantastic to see Mike's contribution recognised and celebrated in such a special way.

From 2001 to 2026 - 25 YEARS! 🥳

Over the years Mike has stayed in close contact, shared his successes with us and even seen standing supporting my netball team on a Saturday. That is one of the really special parts of the work we do - people may move on into mainstream employment, but many continue to keep in touch and share their successes with us along the way.

Congratulations Mike - what an absolute legend! 💙👏

🌟 Recycling Rockstar Wednesday🌟

This week’s Recycling Rockstar is Kirsty! 👏♻️

Kirsty is always keen to learn new skills at our Tiwai site and has been doing an amazing job expanding her knowledge. A huge thank you to Trisha, who has been training Kirsty to complete first checks on the respirators. This includes making sure the correct filters are fitted, the right straps are attached, and carrying out a thorough quality control check before they’re ready for use.

A big shout-out also goes to the entire Tiwai team for embracing all the new washing machine processes and supporting each other as they continue learning and growing.

Fantastic work, Kirsty, and well done Team Tiwai! We love seeing everyone stepping up, learning new skills, and taking pride in the quality of their work. 💙♻️

🚨 Hospital CPAP Escapee… safely returned! 🚨🏥😂

This CPAP machine took a wrong turn and ended up on our sort line! 😄 Thankfully, John made sure it was safely returned to Southland Hospital.

A friendly reminder that CPAP machines and other SDHB devices/property should be returned to the hospital for refurbishment or specialist recycling - not put in your recycling bin.

Thanks John for returning it back to the hospital.
