It was a fun and very interactive workshop with Anouk from Ecosolutions learning how to make lots of different chemical free products to use in our homes. From cleaning paste, lemon spray and dusting cloths to washing powder and liquid hand soap. We also shared many more recipes and felt good about avoiding harsh chemicals in our homes and lives.

Spring has arrived and it is time to get sowing! We will start our first seeds tomorrow, learning what it takes to grow healthy and strong seedlings. Our volunteer day starts from 9am tomorrow, 180 Omaunu road, Kaeo. Pop in and check us out. Morning tea at 10am. Everybody is welcome.

Check out our new garden bed at the Teaching Garden! We wanted to create a big bed to grow some big crops like pumpkins, potatoes, corn and kumara. And we wanted it to be cheap and easy. Maybe you want to do the same at your place? So here is what we did so far: we found a nice sunny spot, layered cardboard on the grass, got a few trailer loads of stable/horse manure and spread that all over the cardboard. To suppress weeds, we covered the manure with sheep wool and now we will let it all settle down for a while before planting. Stay tuned for updates...

We had morning tea and met some lovely people.

Kia ora whānau,

Taryn will be finishing up her contracting role with the Wellness Team next week, on 26 August, as she moves into working full-time at the Wellness Studio and Community Fitness in Kerikeri.

She has asked us to let everyone know how much she has thoroughly enjoyed the past two years working alongside so many members of our community — running a variety of classes and workshops, and supporting individuals on their wellbeing journeys.

If you see her out surfing at one of our local beaches, make sure you say hi! 😊
