Te Hiku Hauora

Te Hiku Hauora We are a Māori health provider, serving whānau, hapū, Iwi and our communities in Te Hiku o Te Ika. In 2003 it opened general practice services in Kaitaia.

The trust began in 1997 providing mobile nursing services in the Far North and has grown progressively over the years adding a comprehensive range of services including general practice, home support, health promotion, mental health and more specialized mobile nursing services. In 2000 it became the first Māori provider in the country accredited with Quality Health NZ, and in 2008 it became the fi

rst general practice in the Far North accredited with Cornerstone – despite being the newest entrant to general practice. As part of its
commitment to quality, the trust employs highly qualified staff and strongly supports
training at all levels of the organization. Another clinic opened in 2005 in
Coopers Beach and one purchased in 2008, and then a further practice in 2015. Associate Minister of Health, Hon Tariana Turia, opened our new purpose built practice in Coopers Beach in 2010. Our two clinics staff General Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Associates (who can prescribe), Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and ancillary kaimahi.
