🌿 TE NEHENEHENUI TRIBAL FESTIVAL 🌿

This Friday and Saturday, Te Awamutu Events Centre comes alive for Te Nehenehenui Tribal Festival — Te Rangimāheuheu | Herea te Ruru a te Ihonga.

And on Saturday, we’ll be especially proud as our Puawhe Kapa Haka take the stage! 💚

⏰ 2.00pm – Puawhe Kapa Haka
📍 Te Awamutu Events Centre

A huge contingent of our Kāwhia rangatahi will be standing proudly on that stage, representing their whānau, their hapū and their kāinga. 🌿

The mahi, commitment and wairua that goes into kapa haka extends far beyond the performance itself. We’re incredibly proud to see our rangatahi embracing their culture, strengthening their connections and carrying their whakapapa with pride.

Kāwhia whānau — get along and tautoko our rangatahi! 🙌🏽💚

🌿 MEET OUR KAIMAHI | VAL 🌿
— KŌHATU WERA MIRIMIRI

Today we introduce Val, who provides Mirimiri at Te Toi Ora Ki Kāwhia Moana and specialises in Kōhatu Wera Mirimiri (Hot Stone). 🔥🌿

Val carries a connection to this whenua and moana through whakapapa, a connection that continues to guide her contribution to the hauora and wellbeing of our community.

Through her mahi, Val provides a warm and nurturing space where whānau can slow down, release tension and take some time for themselves.

Her Kōhatu Wera Mirimiri combines the warmth of heated stones with mirimiri to support relaxation, circulation and overall wellbeing — an approach she brings with care, connection and manaakitanga.

For Val, this mahi is about more than the treatment itself. It is about connection — to our whānau, our whenua, our moana and the community we call home. 💚

🌿 MEET OUR KAIMAHI | CODY 🌿
WHĀNAU ORA NAVIGATOR

Today we introduce Cody, one of our Whānau Ora Navigators here at Te Toi Ora Ki Kāwhia Moana. 💚

Working alongside Tomai as part of our Whānau Ora mahi, Cody supports whānau to identify their aspirations, recognise their strengths and create pathways towards the goals that matter to them.

Whānau Ora is about placing whānau at the centre — supporting whānau to determine their own goals and aspirations while building on the strengths and capabilities they already have.

For Cody, this can mean helping whānau with:

🌿 Whānau support
🎯 Goal setting and planning
🤝 Advocacy and guidance
🔗 Connecting with services and resources
💚 Practical support to help move goals forward

It’s about walking alongside whānau — not deciding the pathway for them — and helping remove some of the barriers that can stand between whānau and where they want to be.

We’re proud to have Cody as part of our Te Toi Ora whānau and the mahi happening here in Kāwhia Moana. 🌊💚

Mauri ora, Cody!
