I had a much needed break over the last week, applying the 4 R’s:

1. Rest - read books (some beloved classics, the Narnia Chronicles) and watched some fav Netflix series (The Sandman and Altered Carbon were my viewing choices).

2. Recharge - ‘filled my cup’ with some mini-adventures with friends.

3. Review - recapped the last month and set goals for the coming month.

4. Reset - of healthy habits, mindset/sleep/nutrition/steps/training.

It was lovely to have a little stress-free staycation in this little slice of paradise. 🥰

What things do you for your 4 R’s? 😘

“Is taking hormones cheating?”

Cheating at aging.
Cheating at fitness.
Cheating at life.

Let’s pause.

We don’t replace insulin and accuse someone of cheating diabetes.
We don’t give pain meds during a shoulder relocation and call it an unfair advantage.
We don’t shame glasses, hearing aids, pacemakers, or antidepressants.

So why—why—are hormones treated like a moral failure instead of medical care?

Hormones aren’t shortcuts.
They’re physiology.
They’re replacement when the body no longer makes enough.

This isn’t about cheating.
It’s about function.
It’s about quality of life.
It’s about evidence-based medicine instead of purity culture applied to women’s bodies.

If we can talk about insulin without shame, we can talk about estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone without judgment.

I unpack this fully in my latest Substack.
Link in bio.
Read it. Share it. Let’s retire this myth for good.

This is literally life saving, when you look at the number of women over 70 and younger lost to urinary sepsis it’s staggering!

The Power of the (Slow) Reset - Soul ‘Food’

What Fills Your Cup?

A slow reset isn’t just about training, food, or habits.

It’s also about making space for the things that genuinely restore you, the activities that regulate your nervous system, reconnect you to joy, and remind you who you are outside of “doing”.

What fills your cup will look different from anyone else’s and that’s the point.

For me, it’s:
- Quality time with friends and family
- Being outdoors and moving my body in ways that feel like play - exploring new trails (“oh, where does this path go?”), hiking, paddle-boarding, surfing or mountain biking
- Live music whenever I can, and the annual pilgrimage to Auckland for the London Hard House Reunion - reconnecting with old friends and losing myself on the dance floor with them for a few hours (once a raver, always a raver… 😉 )

If I can combine any of those with the people I love? Even better!

These aren’t “extras” or rewards for being productive. They’re part of how I stay grounded, regulated, and human, especially in busy or heavy seasons.

A slow reset asks a different question:
Not “What should I be doing?”
But “What actually helps me feel more like myself?”

✨ Joy counts. Rest counts. Connection counts.

What’s one small thing you could do this week that would fill your cup?

💬 I’d love to hear - share in the comments.

Traditional bodybuilding advice has been to push workouts to the point of failure, and that soreness is an indicator of effectiveness. But recent studies show there’s another way
