Sometimes life asks us to pause… reassess… and begin again in a new way.

That’s a little of where I find myself right now 💜

Over the coming weeks I’ll be transitioning from the Ōhau clinic as I prepare for my next move not too far away from Levin and simplify life into something more aligned, peaceful, and sustainable.

Before I go, I’ll be offering final Bowen Technique and PEMF Recharge Sessions from the Ōhau space until Saturday 6th June.

But the most dangerous fat in the body is often the one you can’t.
Visceral fat is the deep fat that wraps around your organs — liver, pancreas, intestines.
And it behaves very differently from the fat under the skin.
This type of fat is metabolically active.
It releases inflammatory compounds, disrupts hormones, and is strongly linked to:
• Insulin resistance
• Blood sugar dysregulation
• Fatty liver
• Chronic inflammation
• Increased cardiovascular risk
Here’s the part that surprises most people
You do not need to be overweight to have high visceral fat.
Many “normal-weight” people carry excess visceral fat due to:
• Chronic stress (cortisol)
• Poor digestion and slow bowel transit
• Blood sugar instability
• Sedentary lifestyle
• Long-term inflammation

Healing happens at many levels. Our body is telling us when we are out of balance, and because we have not learned to 'translate' what each part of our body is telling us, we tend to carry on. Often to the point of breakdown.

If it was our car that made funny noises or isn't performing as usual, we take it straight to the garage to have it checked out.

Not so with our bodies though....

One of the first books I read on the subject of translating body-language was by Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life.
Through her own journey from traumas and severe health challenges, and from learning she was able to reversing cancer.

She learned what her body was telling her.

The key premise of the book is that because the mind and body are connected, illnesses of the body somehow have their root causes in emotional and spiritual aspects of the mind and its beliefs and thought processes.

While modern medicine concerns itself with eliminating symptoms of disease in the body, using tools such as chemotherapy and other pharmaceutical drugs and various surgical techniques, Hay's approach is to identify and work to resolve what she perceives as the mental root causes of disease.

Louise Hay believes that the causes of "dis-ease" include stress and unhealthy thought patterns and beliefs about oneself, and postulates that the most fundamental way to effect positive change in the body is to change the way we think, using tools such as "mirror work" and affirmations.

At the end of the book, a separate section lists numerous illnesses and various emotional thought patterns that Hay believes causes them; this was derived from Hay's earlier book, Heal Your Body, which had its origins in a pamphlet she published in 1979.

🌿 My Bowen Journey — How It All Began

I know what it feels like when your body hurts and nobody can tell you why.

My back troubles began when I was only 18. The pain was so intense that specialists put me on painkillers, antidepressants, and sleeping pills — and told me to “learn to live with it.” They even warned that I might end up in a wheelchair in my early 20s. After countless tests, and a very thick medical file, the conclusion was always the same:

“We can’t find anything wrong.”
Yet I could barely function.

My first sign of hope came when my mum took me to a chiropractor. After just three sessions, the pain disappeared. It felt like magic.

But in my late twenties, the pain returned — worse than ever. Chiropractic care now made my spine hypermobile. Other therapies helped temporarily but nothing lasted. I was determined to keep searching.

Then Bowen Technique found me.

I had my very first Bowen session just before flying to the USA for a seminar. The long flight was agony — I arrived feeling like “the crooked man” from the nursery rhyme. Then, by a stroke of fate, Ozzie and Elaine Rentsch — trained directly by Tom Bowen himself — were there giving a talk and demonstration.

I received two Bowen treatments from them.

When I returned home…
🌟 No jetlag
🌟 No back ache
🌟 No pain

I signed up for their very first UK practitioner training in 1993 — and I have never looked back.

Bowen soon played a major role in my family’s life. My daughter Amber was born prematurely at just 26½ weeks gestation, weighing 1 lbs 8 oz. She received Bowen in her very first week of life. Her paediatrician was astonished — she could lift her head… something unheard of for a baby born that early.

Over the years, I’ve supported clients from like my daughter a few days old to 91 years young — with many needing only 1–3 sessions to experience a significant difference. I later trained in Equine Bowen Technique and have helped horses, dogs… even birds! (One of my chickens loved her Bowen sessions after being stepped on by a horse!)

Bowen transformed my life when it felt like the medical world had run out of answers.
It helped me move freely again… and live again.

Today, it is my joy and purpose to share this remarkable healing modality with others who are ready to feel relief, balance, and renewed hope in their bodies.

Bowen restored my quality of life.

I get often asked what Bowen Technique is and most importantly: what it can do for you!

So What Is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a light touch therapy that works on specific points on the body, thus stimulating the body's own healing mechanism, activating the immune system and addressing issues around circulation and assists in re-aligment of the body.

This extra-ordinary healing modality which Tom Bowen developed in the 60's achieved unprecedented international acclaim due to of it's often instantaneous and lasting results.

During a treatment people (and animals too who get a treatment) experience a deep state of relaxation and it is common for people and animals) to fall asleep while their body is in healing mode.

After a treatment problems that can range from recently sustained injuries to chronic aches or pains significantly diminish or completely disappeared.

WATCH WHERE YOU PETS SLEEP INDOORS AND WELL AWAY FROM EMFs. Turn off routers etc at night at least to give you brain a rest. It can't rest with EMFs blasting 24/7. It's like a microwave oven and cook us slowly from the inside out. Same for the EV cars, it's like sitting in a your cell phone, you are on slow cook while driving. It's the frog in the pot of warm water, while it slowly gets warmer while you don't notice.
