Looks like this is now happening this coming week. Plan ahead and give yourself extra time to get to the studio.
Kia Ora All - here's our rundown on traffic changes around our city from August 21-28.
Saturday work on sites remains a possibility, so you may experience heavier delays as market days and weekly sporting fixtures get underway.
Marsden Street: contraflow traffic management in place between Railway Avenue and Bridge Street with reduced parking in this area.
Queens Drive (at roundabout): slip lane north closed when work is in progress at the joint bay on Govind Bhula Park.
Andrews Avenue, Daly Street, Riverbank car park access: traffic management stop/go on all roads into the roundabout. Please allow additional time while travelling through this area (see map below).
Dudley Street: traffic management in place with reduced parking.
Margaret Street roundabout: night works 7pm-5am from Sunday, August 23 weather permitting. Please follow detours.
Queens Drive / High Street roundabout (near McDonald's): closed until December 2026 as part of SH2 Melling Transport Improvements.
Rutherford Street south (between Margaret Street roundabout and Melling Link Bridge): two-way traffic management remains in place. Please follow signs noting that traffic may be heavy at peak times. Minor diversions to the cycle and pedestrian pathways by the former Dulux building and beyond. Please navigate with care.
Rutherford Street south (as above): overnight closure 8pm Sunday 23rd to 5am Monday 24th . Old ‘ghost’ road markings are being removed and new markings applied where needed, potholes and pavement defects being repaired. Detours will be in place; please keep to the temporary speed limits and obey site crews.
Melling Link Bridge: if you’re leaving Lower Hutt and heading north on SH2, a reminder you can use either lane. Our Melling Link Bridge trial aims to help improve traffic flow and reduce queuing for those travelling from Lower Hutt city centre. As always, if you’re heading south, choose the lane you need at the roundabout.
Rutherford Street north: Traffic management in place from the Melling Link Bridge slip lane. Repco and surrounding businesses remain open. Entry and exit points to the carpark may change when the site is active. Please follow all directional signs.
Connolly Street: nightworks in the southbound lane near Rutherford Street roundabout 7pm-5am on Wednesday August 26, weather permitting. Reduced car parking in southbound lane at this end of the street on Thursday-Friday August 27-28. Drive with care.
