Te Omanga Hospice

Te Omanga Hospice Free specialist palliative care for people and their families, living with a terminal or life-limiting illness

We help people live well and with dignity and compassion at the end of life. Our holistic services are provided free of charge through an interdisciplinary team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists, educators and specially trained volunteers. We provide care and support to people whenever and wherever they need it – at home, in our Inpatient Unit, at a Residential Care Facility, at Hutt Hospi

tal, or in partnership with their GP. While our services are free to those in need, it does cost us to provide them. Every year we need to raise $4 million, which is 45% of our annual funding needs from our local community, with the balance being provided through our contracts with Te Whatu Ora Health NZ. Thank you to our generous community for ensuring patients, and their families and whānau, receive the essential care they need.

Small adjustments at home can make a big difference for someone living with a life-limiting illness.

From bed setup and safety in the bathroom to comfortable seating and accessible equipment, these changes support comfort, safety, and independence.

Talk to your Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist if you’re unsure about any setup or equipment — they can give practical advice for your home and situation.

We are so proud to be supported by our community, to continue providing support for our community.

A big thank you to Upper Hutt and Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club, who over the past year have been contributing to donation boxes and club activities, which meant that last week we received $8,963, presented to our CE, Di Taylor.

This enables us to continue providing excellent care and support for our community across the Hutt Valley.

Your generosity and support makes a big difference.

Support those who support us to care for our community.

The donation of goods and services for our event prizes and auctions makes a real difference. These contributions directly boost the funds raised on the day, and every dollar goes straight back into our community.

Thank you to the following generous businesses and individuals who supported our recent golf tournament, by doing this. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference to the people we care for.

Lower Hutt Tennis Club hosted a lovely morning tea this week, raising $630 for Te Omanga Hospice in memory of their member, Jan.

After their tennis tournament fundraiser was cancelled three times due to weather, the club’s dedication didn’t fade, they simply shifted their efforts into creating a welcoming morning tea for their community.

Thank you to everyone who came along. It was a special chance to share more about the work of Te Omanga Hospice and to connect with one another.

Neighbours Aotearoa encourages all New Zealanders to connect with their neighbours and build stronger communities.

A friendly chat, helping with small tasks, or offering company to appointments can ease loneliness and support people living with illness.

Every small gesture matters.

Last week we held our annual golf tournament in association with Gee & Hickton Funeral Directors at Boulcotts Farm Heritage Golf Club.

It was brilliant to see the course full of players in great spirits, enjoying their game while supporting Te Omanga Hospice.

We are thrilled to announce a total of $70,000 was raised on the day. We are so grateful, thank you!

This event wouldn't be possible without the support and generosity of our Tournament Sponsor Gee & Hickton Funeral Directors and the following businesses who supported us by sponsoring a hole at the tournament:

Signbiz - Head Office - Christchurch
New World Island Bay
Low Cost Bins
Gallagher Insurance New Zealand
James Henry Ltd
Just Property Management
Spark

We are also incredibly grateful to the businesses and organisations who supported Te Omanga Hospice by donating supplies or prizes for this event.

A special thank you goes to Hamish Drumm Real Estate Agent & Auctioneer for generously donating his time and expertise to run the auction on the night.

Keep an eye out next week for some photos from the event!
