“I have a mix of Maori Rarotongan, Pitcairn island/tahitian and scotish decent and if we can incorporate some of these things into a Ta moko arm sleeve.
I have sort of sketched out a concept of having a upoko/arero taiaha on the bottom inside of the fore arm and with the awesome focal point on killanie’s leg with the two lines reping killanie and I with the tamariki maybe have the two lines runing up from the upopko up the arm into the shoulder or start of and above the karu on the forehead have like the lines branch off like that on a mataora if that makes any sence
I had an idea of like a scotish claymore like down the arm and the hilt is up by the shoulder buy is only a concept”

We made a start with the base idea from his Whakaaro, ideas and drawing today and will bring in more of the other cultures as we continue with this sleeve.
Keeping close as possible to his concept drawing of the Taiaha fused with the Claymore sword which they have 2 of in the Whanau (see photos) one for each of his children, we used parts from each sword and merged them together.
Now the Patu in the background wasn’t planned it just came to be in the drawup stage and there was some resonating talked about at the time but then when his missus came to pick him up low and behold she was wearing a greenstone one.
Thats probably what i love most about what i do things can be planned and planned to a certain extent but more then often somethings aren’t planned or spoken of and they just reveal themselves during the day 🤓
