I never planned to be a writer.

I’m not even sure I enjoy writing 😂

And yet… somehow I’ve written a book, and now I’m writing on Substack.

Life is weird.

I’ve been thinking about how different nature feels depending on where you are.

It’s easy to think a tree is just a tree or a flower is just a flower, but I’m not sure that’s true.

They’ve grown from different soil, different seasons, different landscapes.

Maybe that’s why walking here feels different too.

Sometimes it isn’t the destination that changes you.
It’s the ground beneath your feet.

Here’s a picture of me with a cup of tea, which is, in truth, how I spend a fair amount of my life.

A reminder that social media is only ever a glimpse into someone’s life.

For a long time, I kept most of myself off here. Partly because I’m sensitive enough to feel the projections, assumptions and noise more than I’d like to.

But after years of healing, and somewhere in the process of writing a book, I realised I’m no longer willing to dim my light just because it might be misunderstood.

So this page might hold a little more of me now. Still just a glimpse. Still only fragments of a life. Just with a little more of me in it.

In the middle of London, there’s a place where ruin and nature learned to live together.

After it was damaged in the Blitz, they chose not to rebuild it. Instead, they let nature reclaim it.

St Dunstan in the East feels like a living reminder that some things aren’t meant to be restored to what they once were.

Sometimes the beauty is in what grows after.
