I have no degrees.

I say that deliberately because for years I felt I had to explain it.

Eventually I realised people weren't necessarily questioning what I knew. They were questioning who had given me permission to know it.

Nobody did.

My education came from more than twenty years of working directly with human beings and over ten thousand sessions spent observing energy and what happens to it through grief, shock, fear, trauma, love, loss and everything else we manage to do to ourselves and each other.

It taught me something else too.

I am remarkably unimpressed by statistics.

Tell me that 93% of people do something and my first question is no longer what does that mean?

It's who counted them?

We've all heard that humans have 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts every day, often followed by another impressive percentage telling us how many are negative or repetitive.

It sounds wonderfully authoritative.
Except try finding the original research that actually established it, and the trail becomes very, very, very thin.

The same happens with statements such as our personality is fully formed by seven.
An enormous and complicated subject gets compressed into a sentence, repeated often enough, and somewhere along the way repetition becomes authority.

Perhaps I'm suspicious because I'm old enough to remember being taught plenty of things that subsequently changed.

Margarine was going to save us from butter. Eggs were dangerous. Fat was the enemy. Recommendations changed, theories were revised, and yesterday's certainty became today's interesting historical footnote.

That's fine, because science is supposed to change when the evidence changes.

What I reject is the peculiar idea that today's version must therefore be treated as unquestionable truth.

My own work has given me a very different reference point.

Energy.

I have watched people tell me they are absolutely fine while everything I can feel in their system says otherwise. I've watched the body respond the instant we reach an experience somebody thought they'd forgotten.

I've felt energy tighten, retreat, pool and release, and seen breath, posture, expression and thought change with it.
The person doesn't need to understand it.

They don't even need to believe in it.
It happens anyway.

And that's why, when an accepted explanation conflicts with what I repeatedly observe, I don't abandon my observation, instead I become curious.

Curiosity asks the question that authority often finds inconvenient:

What if we've got this wrong?

That question has shaped my entire working life.

I chose firsthand experience over inherited explanation. I watched...questioned..... tested what I thought I knew against the next person who walked through my door, and when what I saw contradicted my own ideas, I changed them.

So no, I don't have a degree hanging on my wall.

I have something else.

Twenty years of evidence gathered one human being at a time.
Science can tell me what its current theory says should be happening.

I'll keep watching what actually happens.

Energy has never asked me to believe it. It just keeps showing me.

Book Launch - Invite

What started as a bit of advice over a cup of tea with Sarah Hirini somehow grew into me writing Holding Life - The Energetics of Conception, Pregnancy and Birth for her.

Writing this book became a labour of love when I really sat with the subject and realised how far women all over the world have been encouraged to drift from one of the most natural transitions of their lives, into an experience increasingly managed from outside them, where their own knowing is too often treated as an afterthought.

Holding Life returns women to that knowing. Part guide, part companion and part quiet place to set your own heart on the page, it moves gently through each stage of conception, pregnancy and birth, offering practices, reflections and a way of seeing that reaches past the physical and into the energetic patterns that shape us.

It is part of a much larger conversation about placing women back at the centre of this experience, supported by those around them without becoming separated from themselves.

The book has already been successfully launched overseas, and now it is time to bring it home.

I am holding a book launch on 20 September, and the lovely Sarah has agreed to come and speak.

She will be there not as the fierce warrior and captain so many know from the rugby field, but as the woman who has travelled her own journey through pregnancy and birth with the knowledge in this book beside her.

Holding Life began with Sarah, so having her there to help bring it home feels exactly right.

If you are venturing into motherhood, thinking about it, or are a mother or grandmother who wants to help return women to their rightful place in this extraordinary transition, I would love you to join us. Midwives, doulas, birth workers and everyone who cares for women through conception, pregnancy and birth are warmly invited too.

Come and meet Sarah and me, share in this important conversation, and help us welcome Holding Life home.

I have a friend whose 19-year-old daughter is currently in Vietnam representing New Zealand at Miss World 2026.

And I have to say, I’m more than a little bit in awe of her.

Not because of the dresses, the photographs or the title.... although good grief, at 19 I’m fairly sure I was still trying to work out what the hell I was doing.

I’m in awe of the willingness it takes to step onto a world stage at that age and say, in whatever form it takes, here I am.

There’s something enormously powerful about a young woman being prepared to be seen, judged, compared, celebrated, criticised and still walking out there anyway.

We talk so much about confidence as though it’s something we eventually acquire once life has given us enough evidence that we’re good enough.

But I think courage works the other way around.

You step forward first.
You allow yourself to take up the space.
You find out who you are while you’re standing in it.

The other part of this story that I love.....

Her mum is getting on a plane and flying to Vietnam to be there for her. To watch, support, love and probably have her heart somewhere in her throat while her 19-year-old daughter walks onto that stage.

There is something really amazing about that too ...raising a daughter with enough belief in herself to go out into the world, and then still being the mum who gets on the plane when it matters.

And this morning she sent me a photo from the plane. Sitting there ready for the journey was a copy of Where Did You Go?, coming along as her plane reading.

I have to admit, that got me a little.

One woman flying across the world to stand behind her daughter while carrying a little piece of my work with her. There are moments when you get to see the strange and wonderful places your work travels without you.

Although choosing Where Did You Go? as light entertainment for a long-haul flight may be questionable. 😂

So somewhere in Vietnam right now is a 19-year-old New Zealand woman doing something extraordinarily brave, with her mum crossing the world to stand behind her.

Whatever happens in the competition, I think both of those women deserve to be honoured.

What a bloody beginning to a life.

Sending the love to you both..you gorgeous souls x

Bloody hell No 23 #

There are moments when you’re allowed to be bloody proud of yourself and today is one of them.....

I discovered today that Holding Life is sitting at #23 in IngramSpark’s Health & Fitness.... Pregnancy & Childbirth subject sales rankings.

And yes, I did stare at it for a minute. 😂

For those who don’t know IngramSpark, it is part of Ingram’s global book distribution network, making books available to bookstores, libraries and retailers around the world.

And Pregnancy & Childbirth is no tiny niche either. Across comparable book-market categories, there are thousands of titles .... after digging around ... estimates put it at around 9,000 books.

So yes. #23 feels rather bloody lovely.

I’m an independent author. I don’t have a giant publishing house behind me, a publicity department, or some clever marketing machine making this happen.

I wrote something I believed needed to exist, published it, and sent it out into the world.

And perhaps that’s the bit worth saying.

We spend an extraordinary amount of time looking at how far we still have to go, while barely acknowledging the evidence that we are already moving.

Sometimes you need to stop long enough to look at what you’ve created and say, I did that.

Because if we’re forever moving the goalposts the minute we reach them, success becomes another thing we never actually get to experience.

So today I’m leaving the goalposts exactly where they are.

#23. I did that. And I’m very proud of me. 🔥

Freaking yay

The book isnt available here yet so if you want to pre-order for yourself or a loved one .. let me know x

Everything in life is in a constant state of balancing.

The tides, the seasons, the temperature of your body, your relationships, energy and your money are continually adjusting in response to what has changed, trying to find balance.

Stand on one foot, and you will feel it.

Your ankle moves, your toes grip and release, your hips make tiny corrections. You may appear still, but beneath that stillness your whole body is working to keep you upright.

Wealth behaves in much the same way.

It is continually trying to return you to the financial level you have taught yourself to hold.

Earn more than that level, and you may spend it, reduce your work or mysteriously produce an expense.

Fall below it, and suddenly the energy, ideas and opportunities begin moving again because you only create well when needs must

Life is never sitting in balance. It's always balancing.

So perhaps the question is not simply, “How do I create more wealth?” It is, “What level of wealth am I currently balancing myself around...... and am I ready to teach my life a new number?”

Hope your all enjoying the sky juice

Wealth is what remains when you stop using your life to pay for money.

Now take a minute to think about that

We have really confused income with wealth.... although they are entirely different things.

You can earn an extraordinary amount of money while handing over your health, your time, your relationships, your peace and every scrap of freedom you possess in exchange for it.

If money arrives only because your whole life is consumed in producing it, yes.. you have been paid, but you have not become wealthy.

You have simply purchased money with several other forms of wealth, and the price may have been far higher than the figure that appeared in your bank account.

Real wealth leaves something behind.

It leaves money that remains, time that still belongs to you, health enough to enjoy what you have created, people you love who still recognise you, and the freedom to pause without everything falling over.

Perhaps the question we should be asking is no longer, “How much money can I make?”
Perhaps it is:
How much of my life will still belong to me when I have made it?

Maybe try this

The Wealth Left Behind Test

Take five minutes this weekend and answer:
What money did I create this week?
What did creating it cost me in time, health, peace or enjoyment?
What form of wealth will I refuse to spend next week?
Then protect one hour purely because it still belongs to you.
That hour is the beginning of wealth.

Interesting isnt it

Awareness is everything you can notice.

Attention is where you send your energy.

So today, pay attention to your attention.

Who has it? What keeps claiming it? And is it being directed towards the life you want.....or continually spent on everything that is just making noise?

Your attention tells your field what is important to you.

Choose where it goes.

Pay attention to your Attention

Much love
