A big milestone for mental health and wellbeing in our rohe!

The official opening of Te Whare Oranga Tangata o Whakaue, the new purpose-built Mental Health Wellbeing and Recovery Unit at Rotorua Hospital, marks a big step for people experiencing mental health distress in the Lakes district.

Why this is so important for our whānau:

🌿 Modern Facility: Purpose-built to support recovery, wellbeing, connection, and dignity.

🌿 Dedicated Spaces: Features individual bedrooms, therapy and activity spaces, family areas, and internal courtyards.

🌿 Personalised Care Pods: A pod-based layout supporting quieter, low-stimulus environments, plus areas for vulnerable patients and older people.

🌿 16 Inpatient Beds: Increased capacity from the previous 14-bed unit, with flexibility for future expansion.

Having a state-of-the-art facility locally ensures our people receive dignified, compassionate care close to home and surrounded by their support networks.

Just an update on our Kaumatua and Kuia seeding workshop 2 weeks ago at 53 Oregon Drive Murupara

Seedlings 🌱 are growing well some have already been transplanted into the green tunnels.

We will be having another seeding workshop next Tuesday 15 September 10am start.

If you have a spare 1 to 2 hours come along.

This helps:
- Murupara Maara Kai & Rongoa Gardens
- other Community Gardens
- whanau gardens
- and the opportunity for you to take some seedings home.

Thanks to all those who have dropped off glad paper cardboard rolls and toilet rolls these have been a big help. Using these have helped with free resources that would normal become a cost

Again what a great time to sit down have a gab 😜, a moan 🤨, and a laugh 😃 oops 😬 and a yummy lunch 😋

Kaingaroa Village Communty maara kai garden progress

Some of the mahi that has been happening this week.

Big thankyou to all those who came and help.

As you can see we are making good progress vege, native, Rongoa plants in just one more area to complete. Seeds have been potted, IBC tank stands almost ready to install, covers for the outside garden boxes almost completed, some of the irrigation completed looking forward to have this finished next Friday plus the pataka kai box.

So if you have spare time please come down the more hands ✋️ makes less work and also gets us the completing this project on time.

We are progressing along nicely

Still have some mahi to go.

We are moving into stage 5 next Friday plants will go in & setting up the irrigation system and any other jobs to complete.

Can't wait to see everything finish 🙌
