What an inspiring evening at the Volunteering Hawkes Bay Awards 2026, celebrating their 20-year anniversary and the incredible people who give so much to our communities.

DSRHB was proud to be an organisation finalist, and we were especially thrilled to see Marcia recognised as an individual finalist. Huge congratulations to all of the winners and finalists. The evening was a powerful reminder of the impact volunteers are making every day across Hawke’s Bay.

A real highlight was the youth category and seeing so many young change makers already stepping up and making a difference in their communities. The future is in good hands.

Thank you to the organisers for a beautiful evening, and to MC Dave Pipe and Kirk Leonard for welcoming us so warmly.

Great job DSRHB Ten Pin Bowlers🎳, did we all have a great time this past Saturday or what?!

We had a lot of fun playing together, and we even had a few players reach a score over 💯👀We had no idea there would be so many of you dancing and celebrating your scores and wins. Next year, we will have a dance contest for best celebration 💃🕺

Keep up practicing your skills, and we look forward to seeing you and your improvement at DSRHB's next annual bowling session at Superstrike Hastings!

Thank you so much to AlphaXe Archery and their wonderful instructors Owen & Taura! We all had a great time this past weekend, and the DSRHB archers were all right on target. We had quite a few first timers, and it was a blast. To end the day there was even a locked-in game of table tennis! Our members look quite comfortable holding the bows, some of which where quite big 🏹 Let us know below if you would be interested in having a weekly archery session in a future term, or if you interested in another Have a Go Session.

Check out the DSRHB Hastings swimmers; you all are working so hard each week! We are really proud of the friendships you have made with each other. Those relationships have really instilled a strong sense of community and purpose for you all. Keep supporting one another and keep improving each week! We know several of you will be at DSRHB's All-Abilities Swim Meet, and we cannot wait to see how much you have improved from last year. Big shout out to Hawke's Bay Regional Aquatic Centre for their support of DSRHB's swim groups!

We are looking forward to seeing some of you showcase your skills at DSRHB's upcoming All-Abilities Swim Meet. Whether you are working towards the swim meet or just having fun improving your skills, we are glad you are enjoying your sessions and being active at the Napier Aquatic Centre.

DSRHB Basketballers, you all are absolutely showing out every week!

Your enthusiasm and dedication to play and improve each week is so awesome. DSRHB’s Basketball for All would not be where without some amazing instruction from Jordan with Kahungunu Poitūkohu, funding from Basketball New Zealand & local supporter, Jillian, and our many student volunteers from EIT: Jasmine, Kendra, Oli, and TK. Players, all your shooting is improving off the charts. Our scrimmaging and developing group, you all are getting so good at chasing and playing good defense. Everyone, keep it up, and we’ll finish a wonderful end to Term 2.

Great job to all our participants who came out to DSRHB’s Have a Go: Fun Golf Games!

We could not have done it with our instructor Gabe and support from Hastings Golf Centre. It was such warm and beautiful day; we are so happy you all enjoyed it. You all worked so hard on your drives, chips, and putts. Hopefully we can organize another Have a Go golf session or maybe even a golf programme next year. Let us know below which you hope for next year!
