Kia ora koutou katoa. So ten years ago I moved home and started this wee Kawakawa rongoă pakihi Māori "Kakara" from my wee kitchen in Kahungunu Te Whanganui a Orotu on Mataruahou. A big old old Kawakawa tree was growing in the garden surrounded by many natives and a food forest. So I harvested my kawakawa and began to titu (experiment). 🤔
Kawakawa and I have known each other since I was a wee girl and my nanny(grandmother) would poultice my hakihaki and mamae with it all the time & it all went away like magic. 🙏
I'm also a longtime (35+ years) user of aromatherapy essential oils and have paired these with our Kawakawa infusions to make our very own whänau inspired Kakara creations, for many of our whānau, friends, marae, kura, hapori ma🧡
So on Tuesday 21st April 2026 I had a full knee replacement and tested our new oil blend of Hinemanu (our tipuna kuia, but also the name gifted to my mokopuna tuaono by our māmā. I used our Hinemanu oil for my weekly massage sessions & Maia for my daily rubs to help with the healing externally and internally 🙌
Today Wednesday the 20th of May I am stoked. My old cruciate ligament repair scar has gone and my new scar is barely recognizable from day 6 when the bandage came off. I'm really stoked 🤗
The internal healing is coming along slowly but surely and I had my 3rd physiotherapy session in the local gym yesterday and can't wait for my Hinemanu massage session tomorrow. Time to add our Kawakawa & Koromiko tea leave blend for more help internally too 😘 Mauri ora 😍
