✨ Happy Global Yoga Therapy Day! 🧘♀️
Looking at this photo from my first visit to India in 2018, feels especially meaningful today.
Today we celebrate Yoga Therapy — a growing field that is helping to bridge the wisdom of an ancient practice with the needs of modern healthcare and wellbeing.
This year’s Global Yoga Therapy Day theme is:
'Yoga Therapy Around the World: Charting a Course to Integration and Impact.'- and I think that captures something really exciting about where Yoga Therapy is heading.
Across the world, Yoga Therapy is increasingly being explored and integrated into a range of settings — including healthcare, mental health, rehabilitation, research and community wellbeing.
And we’re beginning to see more opportunities for this kind of integration here in Aotearoa too, I’m especially excited to share a little personal example of this today.
I’ve recently been offered a role within a mental health inpatient unit attached to our local hospital, working as part of a multidisciplinary team🥹💚
It’s wonderful to see the potential of Yoga Therapy being recognised within a healthcare setting, and to have the opportunity to work alongside other professionals to support people’s wellbeing.
Want to learn more about Yoga Therapy?
The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) is hosting a FREE global event today bringing together Yoga Therapists, healthcare professionals, researchers and anyone curious to discover more about the field.
There will be presentations, practical sessions and perspectives from Yoga Therapists around the world and it’s FREE to register!

If you’ve ever wondered *“What actually is Yoga Therapy?”* — this is a beautiful place to start.
And to celebrate Global Yoga Therapy Day, I’m also extending FREE consultations at my private clinic for anyone who would like to come along, ask questions and explore whether Yoga Therapy might be appropriate for them.
