Winter is upon us and we want to rug up with a warm cuppa and indulge our hibernation with tasty healthy food.
YES tasty and healthy can belong in the same sentence 😉
Check out this months winter warmer recipe, one of my all time fav's, this one has a wee twist; yeah making up my own versions again,(partly because following recipes takes too long...)
Feel free to smother it in Cream Cheese Icing all the same, after all, that's part of its tastiness!

Some-Kinda Spicey Carrot Cake
Great with a cup of Winter Chai, a good book and cozy fire.

Persimmons are another of mother’s nature’s nutrient-dense powerhouses; packed with vitamins, dietary fiber, and antioxidants.
Adding persimmons to your diet is said to support heart health, reduces inflammation, protects eye vision, and promotes healthy digestion.

There are 2 types here, the heart-shaped Hachiya; astringent, aka very high in plant chemicals (tannins), the unripe fruit tends to be dry & taste bitter / needs to be fully ripe before you eat it.

Fuyu persimmons also contain tannins, however, are considered non-astringent. This crisp, tomato-shaped variety can be enjoyed when not completely ripe.

How to eat persimmons:
- fresh
- dried
- cooked

- jellies
- drinks
- pies
- curries
- casseroles
- puddings

Persimmons are known to have a mildly laxative effect, therefore help to dislodge constipation; which can be a cause for bloating in some people.
There are many reasons for bloating, as we have discussed this month.

Digestive / intestinal reflexes are located under the arch in the instep (soft portion) on the souls of your feet.
Work your feet in a clockwise direction, the same direction your digestion works.
Thumb walk, Catalan walk, thumb ‘twerk’ what ever you want to call it, massage your way up the right foot, across both feet and down the left foot following the descending colon, and eliminate out via the sigmoid colon, repeat.
Alternatively you may wish to roll a ball or empty jar under the instep of your feet.
The longer you and more times you repeat this the more beneficial it will be.

Be sure to have a well ventilated room!

Candida and bloating

Candida is a form of yeast in our body. (fungi’s) High levels of this usually result in infections of the mouth or va**na (thrush) on the skin (warm places such as armpits). For some people this can trigger imbalances in other areas of the body too, such as the gut, resulting in bloating.
It’s not as common to result in this way but worth you knowing about; So here goes.

Candida
- Yeast present in our body
We all have low levels of candida in our body naturally.
- when our hormones change this fungus level can also change
- increased levels can also be bought on by pregnancy, compromised immune system, some antibiotics, uncontrolled diabetes, highened stress and diet (high carbs and low physical movement/ exercise)
- mitigated long term by healthy diet, movement, lowered stress levels.
- mitigated short term by creams, lozenges, antibiotics
(As with most imbalances in our life it can be a lifestyle imbalance, forming healthy habits goes along way here).
- FODmap diet (eliminating foods until you find the culprit)
- Heal your gut, book by Lee Holmes (highly recommended)

Testing your levels
- within 30mins of getting up in the morning, before eating, brushing teeth (anything that changes your mouth / saliva environment)
- spit into a clear glass of water
- walk away for 15mins
Eat breakfast, brush your teeth, make a cuppa, walk in the natural daylight to stimulate your pineal gland, etc
- look into your glass:
Clear water?
Cloudy or splotchy water?
Jellyfish hanging out in there?

If either of the last 2, you may like to talk with your GP or Reputable Integrated Health Practitioner, there are a variety of ways to balance your levels, some short term and others longer term.
If you are looking for a long term fix, look at your lifestyle, where can you make your 1% daily changes towards a healthier body, mind and future?

Photo bombed by a Robyn up on Takaka Hill today 😆 Getting some biodiversity time in with Nelson Speliological Group (NSG) on their QEII Governent Land.
Eradicating gorse before replanting natives.

Where does the bending and twisting come into it?? Cutting and ‘pasting’ gorse stumps, what a novel way to massage internal organs to help reduce bloating.
Or…
You could massage the base of your hands (palm side), massage your belly, roll a ball on the instep of your feet, all these 3 ways helps reduce bloating, eliminate gas, relieve constipation and settle down a queasy tummy.

Of course the added gorse needles could help acupressure points too… if the were used in the correct place as appose to randomly spiking you, no I don’t recommend it, massage is much more preferable 🫣😀

Excited to see this research blend of eastern and western medicine! For too long funding for such exploration has been starved, and why??
Why do we actually need western technology to prove what thousands of years of practice has continuously been proving to us through people’s health.
Regardless of that, stoked we are getting recognition and science based evidence to back up what we already know, and I’m sure even more beyond.

Huge thanks to Barbara and Kevin Kunz for your years of passion and dedication to Reflexology ☀️

🧠 A Historic Milestone for Reflexology! 🏆
We are beyond excited to announce that Dr. Stefan Posse will be presenting groundbreaking fMRI research — “Neural Pathways of Applied Reflexology” — at the prestigious International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) annual conference in Cape Town, South Africa!
ISMRM represents 6,000–8,000 neuroscientists and MRI researchers from around the globe — making this one of the most significant scientific audiences reflexology has ever reached.
This is the second time reflexology research has been brought to a stage of this caliber, bridging the worlds of complementary therapy and cutting-edge neuroimaging. Dr. Posse’s work is a profound validation of what our community has believed for decades.
Please share this announcement — the more we amplify this moment, the greater the impact! 🌍🙌
