Candida and bloating
Candida is a form of yeast in our body. (fungi’s) High levels of this usually result in infections of the mouth or va**na (thrush) on the skin (warm places such as armpits). For some people this can trigger imbalances in other areas of the body too, such as the gut, resulting in bloating.
It’s not as common to result in this way but worth you knowing about; So here goes.
Candida
- Yeast present in our body
We all have low levels of candida in our body naturally.
- when our hormones change this fungus level can also change
- increased levels can also be bought on by pregnancy, compromised immune system, some antibiotics, uncontrolled diabetes, highened stress and diet (high carbs and low physical movement/ exercise)
- mitigated long term by healthy diet, movement, lowered stress levels.
- mitigated short term by creams, lozenges, antibiotics
(As with most imbalances in our life it can be a lifestyle imbalance, forming healthy habits goes along way here).
- FODmap diet (eliminating foods until you find the culprit)
- Heal your gut, book by Lee Holmes (highly recommended)
Testing your levels
- within 30mins of getting up in the morning, before eating, brushing teeth (anything that changes your mouth / saliva environment)
- spit into a clear glass of water
- walk away for 15mins
Eat breakfast, brush your teeth, make a cuppa, walk in the natural daylight to stimulate your pineal gland, etc
- look into your glass:
Clear water?
Cloudy or splotchy water?
Jellyfish hanging out in there?
If either of the last 2, you may like to talk with your GP or Reputable Integrated Health Practitioner, there are a variety of ways to balance your levels, some short term and others longer term.
