EATING WELL SHOULDN’T REQUIRE YOU TO LIVE A PERFECT LIFE
This is probably one of the biggest things I try to teach my nutrition clients
Your nutrition plan has to work on a boring Tuesday when everything goes to plan, but it also needs to work when you're busy, someone suggests dinner out, you're travelling, there's birthday cake at work or you simply can't be bothered cooking
If your “diet” only works when you meal prep every Sunday, never eat out and carry Tupperware everywhere you go, we have a problem
I absolutely use calories and macros with clients when appropriate
Protein matters. Portions matter. Food quality matters. Planning ahead can make an enormous difference
But understanding how to make decisions when the plan doesn't go perfectly matters just as much
Maybe dinner is going to be higher in calories, so we make sensible choices around it. Maybe you couldn't prep lunch, so we work out what you can grab from the supermarket. Maybe you're going away for the weekend and the goal becomes maintaining some structure rather than trying to eat exactly as you would at home
That's real life!
I'm not interested in teaching you how to diet perfectly for six weeks
I want you to understand your nutrition well enough that you don't need to keep starting another diet every Monday!
