The Motueka Ripple 💙
Twenty years ago I watched Pay It Forward and never forgot it. A kid decides to do something good for three people, and instead of being repaid, asks them to do something good for three others. Not a transaction. A ripple.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately.
Motueka has always been a place where people look out for each other. Where the cafe owner knows your name. Where the tradie down the road shows up when you need him. Where small businesses prop each other up because no one else is going to.
But there's a sadness in the air right now. Empty shops. Quiet streets. Owners I know personally working twice as hard for half the return. Times are tough and I won't pretend otherwise.
So I've been asking myself what I can do. Not as an agency owner trying to sell something. Just as someone who was born here and loves this place.
Here's the plan.
Every week Snap will spotlight one Motueka business. Their story. Their work. The people behind them. I'll call in, meet the owners, take a few photos, and share their heart with our community. No charge. No catch. Just a thank you to the people who make this town what it is.
And we ask one thing in return: Pay it forward.
Choose local. Buy local. Refer local. Support another Motueka business however you can. Buy your coffee from the local cafe (I'll be next door grabbing a coconut hot chocolate, but you get the idea 😉)... Get your quote from the local tradie. Share a post from a local maker.
And if money's tight, time is just as powerful. Two minutes to like, share, comment on socials, or leave a Google review means the world to a small business owner.
If you own a business in Motueka, or know one that deserves to be celebrated, send me a message.
We can't fix everything. But we can love this town loudly. And we can start now.
