Spotlight on VIRGINIA

It's hard to keep track of our wonderful Virginia.
Not just content with being the boss - owner and director of Koru Wellness -
Virginia keeps herself busy seeing clients both at the clinic and off site, as well as utilizing her skills in equine osteopathy.
Equine osteopathy is a manual therapy that aims to improve a horse's movement and function by assessing and treating restrictions in the musculoskeletal system.
By using gentle hands-on techniques osteopathy can improve performance, reduce stiffness and aid recovery after injury.
Since Virginia completed her equine training she has successfully treated many horses and ponies.
It is important to note that equine osteopathy is not a replacement for veterinary care, but rather an extension of care. Virginia is more than happy to work collaboratively with your veterinarian when necessary.
Virginia's experience and confidence is testament to her devotion and passion to every opportunity that has presented itself.
So if you need treatment yourself, make an appointment in clinic.
If you have a horse that needs attention, let us know and we can arrange a suitable time. Your horse will thank you for it.🐎

Do you enjoy walking?
Apart from the obvious benefit of being outside in the fresh air, there are many other benefits of walking.
After 1 minute blood flow increases delivering more oxygen and vital nutrients to your tissues.
After 5 minutes your mood improves due to the movement triggering a release of feel-good brain chemicals.
After 10 minutes cortisol reduces helping restore physical and mental balance.
After 15 minutes blood glucose reduces, moving sugar out of your bloodstream and into your body's cells, increasing energy.
After 30 minutes fat burning begins, the energy being exerted signals fat cells to release stored energy.
After 60 minutes dopamine is released. Dopamine helps regulate mood, motivation and the physical control of movement.

Sounds good doesn't it?
So now that Spring is upon us and with daylight saving just around the corner, why not try going for a walk, a simple yet effective way to improve how you feel, physically and mentally.

If you think you might need a tweak or two to ensure you are physically able to enjoy a good walk, then come and make an appointment here at the clinic.

Daffodil Day August 28

The reception area looks amazing with daffodils on the desk and in various spots around the clinic.
The team at Koru Wellness have purchased daffodils to support the cancer society during their annual appeal, recognizing all those that do so much in the community for patients and their families.
Cancer doesn't discriminate, it affects each and every one of us in various ways.
We can never underestimate the work that the cancer society does and we thank them for it.

Daffodils also herald the start of spring - finally!
Time to look ahead to warmer weather and being able to get back outdoors.
It can be easy to hibernate when it is cold and miserable - let's get those muscles warmed up and back into action.
If you are aching, sore or have injured yourself, make sure you take the time to recover, book an appointment with us before it escalates!

Spotlight on.....SARAH

Sarah treats clients of all ages - right from newborns through to the elderly.
Our mum and baby package has been extremely popular and Sarah is one of our osteopaths that enjoys helping in the early stages after a new arrival.
Babies respond extremely well to treatment and Sarah treats a wide range of issues that may have arisen such as colic, constipation or feeding issues.
Knowing the baby is more settled post treatment enables mum to understand and accept what is happening with their wee one.

Back and neck pain, pelvic pain and chronic issues.
With her gentle but thorough approach and her compassionate nature, Sarah is a real asset here at Koru Wellness and we receive many positive feedback comments from those she has treated.

Goodness, gracious - hasn't it been chilly!!!!!β›„β›„β›„
The snow blasted through on Tuesday.
For a while there we were hoping to build a snowman on the front steps at work but despite the ferocity of the snow flurries it didn't quite settle enough around the building to do so.
We had a few issues inside, with a rather large leak and a bit of an indoor swimming pool which took a bit of work to clean up. Hopefully the builder is able to rectify the situation there before it rains again.
Not surprisingly, we had a few cancellations on Tuesday but otherwise the week has been super busy.
Those of you who enjoy skiing and snowboarding will be loving the snowfall and planning a weekend of fun on the slopes.
Take care, keep warm and don't hesitate to call if you need an appointment.

What happens in your appointment?
Why do we ask so many questions?

The initial visit with your osteopath is not just about where it hurts - it's about understanding the bigger picture, understanding what is actually going on.

Your story matters!
Your osteopath wants to know how and when your symptoms started, how it is affecting your everyday living and what you are hoping to achieve.

Pain!
Sometimes where the pain is located is not where the actual problem is.
Pain can be referred and the osteopath will need to ascertain the path leading to your pain.

Your lifestyle matters.
Where you work, what you do while at work, how you exercise, your daily routine - all of these things help develop a picture for the osteopath which enables them to understand what is required for each individual circumstance.

Your goals matter!
Do you need to feel better for a reason? Are you planning on running a marathon you always thought you might do? Are you aiming to excel at your chosen sport? Do you want to be able to play with your children or grandchildren?
The goals you have shape your treatment plan and determine how best to proceed.

WOW! Sounds intense doesn't it!
Don't let it phase you. Our wonderful team of osteopaths will guide you through this process seamlessly. They are all amazing at what they do and really enjoy seeing the results.

Feeling sad 😒
The clinic has farewelled Quint for his big OE.
It's only the first week and we are missing him terribly.
Fortunately he will be returning after his adventures and in the meantime Matthew has added a day to his schedule to help us out - which we are eternally grateful for!
Matthew, Sarah and Virginia will keep the clinic running like clockwork, seeing both their own clients and covering for Quint - so rest assured you will still be in good hands.
Reach out if you need an appointment.
