This year I'm mentoring Jackie and Nicola through taming their kaimanawas and taking them to compete in the c**t challenge at equifest.
I'm super proud of both of these ladies for stepping outside their comfort zone and for how they have connected with both their horses. ❤️❤️

Three extremely successful sedations on three wonderfully behaved wild ponies ✅

Two successful castrations - 2 nuts removed 🥜 on each horse ✅

Three wolf teeth removed 🦷 ✅

One hairy moment where Finn decided to fall over the "wrong" way very close to the wall 🙈

And one horse that got out of having his 🥜s off by only presenting one of them - surgery in the clinic for him 🙈

So now we have two geldings Finn and Peter Pan and Sonic who gets to keep his manhood for a little longer.

So proud of all three of them for successful vet visits. Always a little nerve wracking on my part until they are sedated, that's when my training is taken over by the fab vets to do what they do best. ❤️

Here's a little snippet with some captions about what is going on for how we start to build some confidence with the Wild Horses for haltering.

True partnership isn’t about taking power; it’s about sharing it. By allowing a horse to navigate the rope on their own terms—reaching under it for a reward—we give them the agency to choose the interaction. When they feel they have a say in the process, their confidence grows. This foundation of mutual trust eventually allows us to step into a leadership role where they feel safe enough to yield control, knowing their boundaries are always respected.

Thanks Jackie Kiddle for the lovely photos of the horses from from today.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves for who has been doing what as I'm shattered, two days in bed over the weekend with a tummy bug and straight back into it this week.
So pleased with how they are all doing.
