Take care of your hauora – bowel screening could save your life. 💫

At Tau Oranga, we're encouraging our people to take up bowel screening as an act of aroha and manaaki for yourself and your whānau.

Bowel screening is simple, free for eligible people, and can help detect bowel cancer early when it's easier to treat.

If you've received a bowel screening kit, don't put it aside, complete it today. If you have questions or need support, our team is here to help.

❄️ Winter Wellbeing Starts with Connection 💜

Winter can be tough on our wellbeing. Shorter days, colder weather and spending more time indoors can leave us feeling isolated or low.

This season, make time to connect:
☕ Share a cuppa
💬 Have a kōrero
📞 Check in with a friend or whānau member
🚶 Get outside together

A simple conversation or small act of kindness can make a big difference.

Connection matters. Let's support each other through winter 💜

On this International Nurses Day, we celebrate two extraordinary wāhine of Tau Oranga Health Care - Judy Davis (Ngāti Maniapoto) and Shona Tolley (Raukawa, Te Kaokaoroa o Patatere) alongside all nurses who uphold the mana and hauora of our people through aroha, manaaki, and unwavering service.

Sisters in nursing and sisters-in-law through their marriage to Te Arawa brothers, Judy and Shona first began their nursing journeys here on Pukeroa Hill in the 1970s.

Decades later, they have returned home to serve the very people and whenua that helped shape who they are.

At Tau Oranga, they bring far more than clinical expertise. They carry wisdom, strength, lived experience, and a deep commitment to whānau wellbeing. Their care reflects the true essence of nursing, walking alongside people through moments of challenge, healing, growth, and hope.

Judy and Shona embody manaaki, tiaki, and aroha in all they do. Fierce wāhine toa, devoted nannies, māmā, aunties, nurses, and proud descendants of their tūpuna continuing a legacy of care that nurtures our whānau today while investing in the wellbeing of our mokopuna tomorrow.

We are deeply privileged to have them within our Tau Oranga whānau and acknowledge the strength, sacrifice, and compassion they continue to give so generously to our communities.

Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei - for us and future generations. 💙

A time to care for our wāhine health

This week we’re gently raising awareness about uterine cancer and the importance of listening to our bodies.

If you notice changes like unusual bleeding, discomfort, or anything that doesn’t feel quite right for you, it’s okay to reach out and have a kōrero with your healthcare team. You know your body best.

Māori and Pacific wāhine can be more impacted, so taking a moment to check in with ourselves and each other.

✨ No routine screening test so awareness is important
✨ Talk with your whānau and friends
✨ Seek support if something feels doesn’t feel right

Our team is here to support you on your hauora journey, every step of the way. Get in touch if you have any questions.
