We'd like to keep our community informed about some temporary changes within our clinical team.
Unfortunately, several of our GPs are currently unavailable for a variety of reasons, with one absence likely to be long-term. As a result of these staff shortages, particularly through the busy winter months, this is leading to longer wait times for routine appointments.
We understand how frustrating this can be. We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support while we work hard to find both short and long-term solutions.
There is good news on the horizon:
💙 A Nurse Practitioner will be joining us in mid-August and is expected to begin seeing patients from September.
💙 A College Registrar will also be joining our team in August, providing additional clinical support for our patients.
We're also excited to be introducing a new "Book on Behalf" virtual consultation service. Our administration team is currently completing training so they can book video consultations for you directly. This means you'll be able to access virtual appointments at Silverstream GP's standard consultation fees, avoiding the higher costs often associated with urgent care services.
Our Acute clinics will not be available for some time, so this new video consultation service is aimed at ensuring our patients can continue to access timely care when appropriate.
Both our clinical and administration staff remain committed to providing the best care possible. We thank you for your kindness, patience, and understanding as we continue to care for our community.
We will keep you updated as we welcome new members to our team.

Meet the team and get to know the friendly faces behind your care!

📌 Zainul Isahak - Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP)

Originally from Singapore, Zainul joins The Doctors Silverstream & Muritai teams with a wealth of experience. He holds a Master of Counselling, and a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction. He has also created a comprehensive HIP guide on Smoking & Va**ng Cessation, helping more patients to successfully quit.

Although much of his earlier work was in specialised areas of mental health and addiction, he is very comfortable supporting individuals of all ages with a broad range of health concerns. He is committed to delivering accessible and effective support, and has previously worked with couples, and children with autism.

Prior to becoming a HIP, Zainul co-facilitated the Addiction Therapeutic Community programme at Rimutaka Prison, provided counselling and group therapy with CareNZ, and worked as an ACC Sensitive Claims Provider.

Zainul works at our Muritai practice on Mondays, and Silverstream practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
