King Charles' Birthday was celebrated with warmth, laughter, and a touch of royal charm. Our day began with a delicious royal cupcake and a comforting cup of tea while we gathered for a joyful sing-along with Bev Old.
With grey skies and blustery weather outside, Plan B was quickly put into action. What was meant to be a men's outing soon welcomed several ladies as well, as some of the men decided the weather was a little too challenging. Those who joined us had the perfect response: "It doesn't rain inside the van!"
After collecting a tasty takeaway lunch, we made our way to the Sugar Loaf, where we enjoyed our meal while admiring the beautiful views over Ngāmotu Beach. Although the day was cold and grey, spirits remained bright and cheerful.

Residents enjoyed posing for photos in front of our King's backdrop, sharing smiles and laughter as they celebrated the King's special day from afar. It was a wonderful reminder that joy, friendship, and community can brighten even the dullest weather.

A huge thank you goes to our incredible Ladies in Red, who were constantly on the move ensuring every resident was fed, watered, warm, and comfortable. Their kindness and care did not go unnoticed, with many residents commenting that they were simply amazing.

It may not have been the royal outing we originally planned, but it turned out to be a memorable day filled with companionship, laughter, and plenty of royal spirit.

Honouring 150 years of the beautiful Pukekura Park was truly a special and memorable day for our whānau. A heartfelt thank you to Steve for the very informative historical tour through the magnificent gardens and rich history of the park. Our residents enjoyed morning tea under the giant kauri tree before moving to a sunny spot overlooking the scenic lake and majestic maunga. While admiring the stunning surroundings, the irresistible aroma of hot fries soon warmed us from the inside out on a chilly winter’s day.

The day was filled with laughter, reminiscing, and special moments as several furry friends stopped by for cuddles and pats from our lovely ladies. The therapeutic value of pets was clearly seen, bringing comfort, joy, conversation, and smiles to our residents. We were also treated to a wonderful dog display featuring five different dog breeds which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

After our historic tour, we took a relaxing drive to the beach where our homemade bacon and egg pie was a winner with all the residents. Between the sea views, fresh air, winter sunshine, and the perfect dose of vitamin D, everyone present had a truly wonderful time filled with happiness, friendship, and treasured memories.
A special thank you to Miss Gulapa for your help and kindness today before becoming the beautiful Mrs Valles. Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness together.

Thank you also to the Friends of the Park for the free buggy rides our residents had a truly magical day.

Today our whare was filled with smiles and laughter during the lovely visit from the Little Steps tamariki. The residents truly enjoyed listening to the singing and seeing the tamariki proudly share their workbooks and achievements. It was a special intergenerational moment that brought joy, connection, and pride to both young and old.

To finish off themorning session, Jo had everyone laughing with her energetic chicken dance while residents cheered her on and tried their best to keep up with her moves. The day ended perfectly with a well-deserved ice cream, leaving everyone happy, uplifted, and grateful for such a fun-filled day together.

Our monthly community link with our Senior Citizens Club was once again filled with laughter, music and beautiful connection. Today we were entertained by the wonderful Swiss Club from Kaponga, who never disappoint in getting the whole crowd engaged with their cultural songs, jokes and the sound of the alpine horns. Andrea even had the opportunity to try playing the horn it's definitely much harder than it looks!

The afternoon brought warmth and joy on a cold winter’s day, ending with the amazing hospitality of Kerry and her dedicated volunteers, serving delicious food and comforting hot drinks to all our seniors. These special afternoons continue to uplift the spirit, encourage connection and remind us all of the healing power of community, laughter and togetherness
