Our BIRTHING JOURNEY 💫
That day, I truly felt that my baby girl was ready to be born✨
And looking back, there were so many little signs along the way 🤩 each one showing me that I was getting closer to meeting her.
Every birth is unique, but our bodies can give us exciting signs that birth is getting closer 😍
🤰🏻 Pre-labour: My Uterine Seal was released. My first exciting sign that birth was approaching 😍
🤰🏻 Early labour: I woke up knowing something had changed. I activated our BIRTH PLAN, followed my MUMMY RADAR and let my body lead the way.
💧 Membranes Released: Around 5 pm, my waters released naturally (12 hours before her birth) I was still calm, comfortable and able to stay home for a few more hours.
🚙 Heading to the Birthing Centre: When my body told me it was time, we made our peaceful night-time journey there 🤩
🌊 Active labour: My surges became stronger and closer. I breathed, moved, changed positions, used lunges to help my baby engage and trusted what my body was doing.
🔥 Transition: That intense moment when the pressure became overwhelming, the Ring of Fire began ⭕️ and I was suddenly so over the sound of my own surge breathing 😅
👣 Birth 😍 into the pool, my BIRTH PARTNER behind me supporting me with his body, words and calm. I breathed, followed my body’s rhythm and welcomed our baby girl into the world, happily born in the OP (posterior) position.
🐣 Postpartum 👣 Those first precious hours: Skin-to-skin with Dad, placenta, shower, golden hour, breastfeeding and our first happy naps as a family 😌💗💛
It was a long labour due to her posterior position, but it was CALM, connected and deeply POSITIVE 🤩
And this is why I believe PREPARATION MATTERS. Knowing what can happen, UNDERSTANDING your body, having a well-prepared Birth Companion, respectful midwives 🙌🏻 and tools to stay calm can completely CHANGE how you experience the BIRTHING JOURNEY.
I hope our story inspires other expectant families as they prepare for their own birth journey.
My own birth experience is the main reason I love what I do 😌 supporting families as they prepare to meet their babies.
With love,
Ethel
