Winter teaches us that not all growth is visible.

Beneath the surface, roots strengthen.
Old leaves fall away and compost as do old identities, ideas & concepts ..

The soul gathers its medicine. Finds depth in it s roots and belonging.

This is the season where we learn to live in the vast landscape between black and white, Yin & Yang where certainty softens into curiosity, playfulness, pleasure and joy and where judgment redefines itself into compassion, awareness and awakening to life

Winter reveals many shades of truth.

This is the fertile middle ground, where we discover that wisdom is not found in having all the answers, but in learning to dance with the questions. Who am I now? What if I just did this? What is this teaching me?

So come. Be welcomed. Be curious to play in the vast middle. It may be silent, it may be loud, it maybe soft or it may be fierce! Light the fires of imagination and warm your body in it.. Be the fire

Come dance with me through these sacred years.

Through the winter bloom.
Through the shedding and the becoming.
Through the silvering and the softening of old identities.
Through the grief, the joy, the mystery, the mastery and the freedom.

Let us honour the depth of who we have been, celebrate the aliveness of who we are, and welcome the opportunity of who we are still becoming.

Together, let us dance in the great space between.

For it is here, in the sacred middle, that the soul remembers itself.

As my soul lands here I am inviting those in the matakana region to dance with me through the seasons ~ watch this space for updates!
Thanks for joining me here 🤍🤍🤍

The Silence of Reorientation

There comes a silence with aging,
not empty,
but full.

Full of roads once travelled,
names once spoken daily,
doors that closed softly behind us
without us knowing it was the last time.

Old places remain,
yet feel different somehow.
The café is still there,
the beach still meets the shore,
the streets remember our footsteps,
but we have changed.

Life begins its quiet reorganisation.

Friendships shift like seasons.
Some drift beyond the horizon,
their purpose complete.
Others arrive unexpectedly,
carrying fresh laughter,
new stories,
new mirrors for who we are becoming.

There is a tenderness in beginning again.

Not the urgency of youth,
rushing towards the future,
but the wisdom of knowing
that every ending is also a threshold.

We learn to sit beside uncertainty,
to trust the spaces between chapters,
to honour what was
without clinging to it.

And in the silence,
something beautiful emerges
a gentler self,
less concerned with proving,
more interested in belonging.

New friends.
Old places.
Fresh beginnings.

The heart, despite everything it has known,
remains willing to open.

And perhaps that is the greatest miracle of aging:

not that life becomes smaller,

but that it continues to invite us
into new ways of loving,
new ways of being,

and new ways of coming home to ourselves.

I recently popped home for some family time and went to a beautiful bush and waterfall. The story goes that Otanewainuku and Mauao were in love with the same mountain Puwhenua.

She chose Otanewainuku for his grand masculinity and so Mauao feeling rejected left and was caught by the rising sun which is where he is today. Since the slips I’ve been curious to know more about this mountain and so visited here days after arriving.

Guardians of the Forest
Credit for retaining this remarkable forest must in part go to the early
settlers who set aside the area as a reserve of unlogged and unmodified
forest when last century land clearing and forestry were changing the
landscape.

It really feels ancient and alive with prana (life force) huge huge trees of rimu and kauri
I felt so connected in this forest.
Touching trees, roots and everything in between.

The name Otanewainuku means “the many waters that spring forth from the
domain of Tane - overseer of the forest." Many springs form waterways that flow into major river systems.

I found this fruiting Lions Mane here and enjoyed some tea 🥰🙏🏼

So grateful for this day and this forest to bathe in.

Slow living, resetting the nervous system and regulating hormones is the focus … Bali provides the chance to do as little or much as you want … we dorado much of our life rushing, pleasing, performing and competing for acceptance, self worth and bravery.. It does take bravery and courage to travel alone.
But being alone gives the opportunity for deep rest , reset, no people pleasing, letting go of rushed itineraries, LE T GO of the need to be in a rush, rest the nervous system and allow a d e e p pause

May we find peace in this world.

May we find peace in this world.

Growing also means outgrowing… Outgrowing habits, places, and sometimes people that no longer align with your goals or values.

And remember: every “goodbye” is creating space for the next right thing to walk into your life ❤️
