Kids aren’t small grown-ups.

Their bodies are growing, developing, and constantly changing, which means they need care that’s designed just for them.

We sometimes see tamariki who have already tried physio elsewhere, but haven’t quite gotten the results they were hoping for. It’s not that the care wasn’t good, it just wasn’t designed for a developing body.

That’s where paediatric physio comes in. It’s about understanding how kids grow and move, and tailoring treatment in a way that works for their bodies.

✨ The right care makes all the difference.

If something doesn’t feel quite right for your child, trust your gut. Getting the right support early can make a big difference.

Today is Pink Shirt Day. A day that reminds us how powerful kindness, inclusion, and standing together can be.
At Nurture Paediatrics, we see every day how experiences of bullying can affect tamariki, not just emotionally, but in their confidence, movement, school participation, and sense of belonging. Pain is not always visible, and neither is the impact of feeling unsafe or left out.
Every child is a taonga. Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.
We also know that small actions can make a big difference.
Together, we can:
• Listen to our tamariki and believe their experiences• Support them with words that build confidence and connection• Encourage safe friendships and inclusive environments• Partner with schools, coaches, and communities to create spaces where all children can thrive

If your child is finding things tough, you are not alone. With the right support, children can rebuild confidence and feel safe in their bodies, their friendships, and their world.
Let’s keep choosing kindness, not just today, but every day.

At Nurture, we love meeting incredible humans who are making a difference. Last week, we had the joy of meeting the inspiring Mariana and chatting about the amazing work she’s doing to support young girls.

✨ Meet Mariana Sala from Tween to Teen Queens ✨

Mariana is a tween relationship coach and mentor supporting girls aged 8–13 and their mums through the big emotional, social, and confidence changes of the tween years.

Through fun, supportive after-school programmes and in-person girls’ groups, Tween to Teen Queens helps girls build confidence, emotional skills, healthy friendships, and a stronger connection with themselves and the people around them.

🌿 In-person girls’ groups available

🌿 Open to creating new groups in local communities and schools

💛 To the mums we see every day...

We see you.

The tired eyes that still light up for your child.

The sometimes–strained smile as you juggle just one more thing.

The rushing from appointment to appointment, phone in hand, ticking off life admin while your little ones are happily lost in our play corner.

We see the love, the effort, the quiet determination — even on the days it feels invisible.

This Mother’s Day, we invite you to pause.
Take a breath.
Let yourself be proud of the small, everyday wins — because they matter more than you know.

You’re doing an incredible job. 🥰

Not every child finds social situations easy — and that’s okay.

Some children want to join in but aren’t always sure how. Others feel overwhelmed in groups, or need a bit more structure to feel confident with peers.

LEGO‑based therapy is often a great fit for children who experience differences in social communication, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, or other developmental profiles. It can also suit any child who would benefit from gentle support to build confidence alongside others.

Small groups, clear roles, and shared goals help sessions feel calm, predictable, and achievable.

Bo explains how this works (and why it’s so effective) in her blog — have a read if you’re wondering whether this could suit your child.

Teenage girls are leaving sport. Not because they’re “lazy”, but because it stops feeling safe, comfortable or fun.

This isn’t just “a phase”. Girls drop out of organised sport at higher rates than boys during the teen years, in NZ and overseas.

🟢Body changes, periods, uniforms and changing spaces can make sport feel exposing or uncomfortable.

🟡Many girls feel judged and lose confidence as they move through adolescence.

🟣Study load and social pressures often peak in the mid‑teens, and sport can start to feel like another performance.

🔵Lack of role models, limited kit options and fewer female coaches can make girls feel like they don’t belong.
