Titre Tests for dogs and now cats too!

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVJNOqqHAj8&t=11s

A Titre test is the scientific method of detecting specific antibodies in the blood to reflect whether or not an animal is actively protected from certain diseases. Antibodies are produced by the immune system to combat an antigen (disease causing entity like a virus) and are created either through natural exposure to a disease or through vaccination.

Although vets use vaccination as an important tool to help prevent disease, it is the immune system’s response to vaccination that is the most important aspect. There are some animals who we vaccinate that don’t mount an immune response to these diseases and others that hold their immunity to these diseases for longer than what we predict that they will. Being able to find out whether an animal has antibodies to certain diseases can be invaluable to have peace of mind that they’re protected and also to prevent unnecessary vaccination.

A drop of blood is all that we need to conduct a titre test either at the veterinary clinic, which takes a few minutes, or a blood sample can also be submitted to a veterinary laboratory.

At Holistic Vets we have been doing titre tests for Canine Parvovirus and Canine Distemper Virus for many years and we’re delighted to see this becoming more mainstream.

We are very excited as we can now do titre tests for the main Feline diseases that we vaccinate against (Panleucopenia, Calici and Herpes viruses) as well.

We are Blessed, in Memory of Dorothy Savage

Last month we were privileged to unveil a magnificent Patu and wonderful Blessing bestowed upon us by Mike and Dorothy Savage in 2024 after a tumultuous time that we had experienced prior to this.

Mike and Dorothy have been avid supporters of ARRC Wildlife Trust,s work for many years and we have always been grateful for their kindness and care.

Sadly, Dorothy passed away recently but her memory lives on, in our hearts and on our wall! In reception we unveiled our Patu, Blessing and a photo of beautiful and elegant Dorothy with Mike, family, friends and our team. My dad Rob was visiting from Australia at the time and it was a very special event. Thank you Mike and Dorothy, we are so grateful for your blessing and inspiration.

Attention Tauranga dog lovers!

(FOR LIVVIE’S PALS https://www.facebook.com/livvyspals/ )

Meet Ginger - the delicious 10 month old male Cavoodle puppy in need of a new home in Tauranga

You may be wondering why such a cutie may be in need of a new home? Well, recently Ginger has started displaying signs of what looks like Separation Related Distress. Due to their full-time work commitments, Gingers current owners understand that he will be better suited to a home with someone who has the time and experience to pursue this behaviour conundrum

Ginger is Vaccinated and Microchipped. He needs to be groomed regularly but this can be arranged.

Personality: Cavoodle cool! He is fun to hang out with, VERY devoted to his family and can be noisy. Calm and happy when settled at home , he can also be a little apprehensive of new experiences. Ginger loves playing with other dogs, and appears uninterested in cats or other small creatures He would best suit a homebody, preferably someone who is experienced and keen to work with his specific needs.

Does Gingers story sounds like your kind of complicated love story? Message the AMAZING Livvie at Livvy's Pals https://www.facebook.com/livvyspals/ for an application

PLEASE NOTE - Ginger is not for sale, he needs a very special home with commitment to his training. His adoption needs to be carefully considered. Please fill in your details via Livvies Pal’s and they will match the most appropriate home to Ginger aiming for a great fit.

Thank you for considering this and sharing with others who may be Ginger’s forever home 🙏🐾💖
