This week, new modelling from DairyNZ highlighted the potential impact a strong El Niño could have on pasture growth, feed supply and farm profitability if dry conditions develop across parts of the country this summer.

It is hard to predict exactly how a severe El Niño event will affect each region, but there are some practical steps you can take now to reduce stress further down the track:
👉 Lock in your supplementary feed plan
👉 Review young stock growth targets and feed requirements
👉 Get maize in the ground while conditions are still good (HSR Seeds can help here)

Hopefully the worst-case scenarios don't eventuate, but having a plan in place gives you more options, whatever the weather decides to do.
