Welcome to our final week of Shingles Awareness.

Did you know that if you've recovered from shingles or recently had the shingles vaccine, you may be able to donate plasma and help vulnerable people who need specialised treatment, including children with cancer and pregnant women.

If you're interested in donating, check your eligibility on the NZ Blood Service website:�https://www.nzblood.co.nz/shingles

Welcome to Week 3 of Shingles Awareness.

This week, we're talking about preventing shingles.

If you've had chickenpox before, the virus stays in your body and can reactivate years later as shingles. The best way to reduce your risk is by getting vaccinated.

The shingles vaccine is recommended for adults aged 50 years and over. In New Zealand, it is funded for people aged 65 years and for some people with weakened immune systems.

🌟 We are delighted to welcome Eden into her new full-time role here at Sanders!

Many of you may recognise Eden, as until recently she was our after-school “Girl Friday”, helping out around the pharmacy while finishing school. We’ve loved watching her grow in confidence and become such a valued part of our team as a Pharmacy Assistant 🫶.

Eden’s enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness to help have already made a wonderful impression. She is always ready with a smile, and we’re so excited to have her with us full-time as she continues to learn and develop her skills.

Welcome to Week 2 of Shingles Awareness.

This week we're focusing on treatment and self-care.

If you think you might have shingles, it’s important to seek medical advice as soon as possible. Antiviral medicines work best when started within 72 hours of the rash appearing, which can help shorten the illness and reduce the risk of complications.

While recovering, remember to keep the rash clean and covered, avoid scratching the blisters, wash your hands regularly and get plenty of rest.
