Once a month since the beginning of last year, I've been running a Reiki Share Group.

It's a space where, once you've completed a Reiki course, you can come along and connect with other practitioners. We take turns giving and receiving Reiki, although in reality Reiki never stops flowing, so it's more about spending time in a state of Reiki.

The reason I'm writing about it today is an experience I had at our most recent share.

Usually, when receiving Reiki, I might have two or three people working around me while I'm lying on a massage table. This time, because our numbers have grown so much (which is wonderful!), I received my session lying on a yoga mat on the floor, snuggled under a blanket.

It felt completely different.

Being closer to the earth created such a grounding experience. There was a sense of comfort, safety, and connection that surprised me. It reminded me that Reiki can be experienced in many different ways, and sometimes a small change can make a big difference.

Because of this experience, I'm now going to offer the option of receiving Reiki either on the massage table or on a yoga mat on the floor for those coming for Reiki sessions.

If you've been curious about Reiki, or have been thinking about booking a session, I currently have a special running this month:

✨ 1 hour Reiki session – $80 (usually $100) ✨

Simply look for the Blue Moon Special on the booking page.

Ssh, but I didn't go to my last class of semester. Instead headed out to The Vintage Cafe at Waiau Pa for brunch (who are amazing and understand gluten free) then on to Clark's Beach for a walk.
It was a nice way to celebrate my 5th semester finishing and Madi's 1st semester.

Just a little Sunday funny as I've just completed my last test for my Law and Ethics paper, whoop whoop.

The kids are also away at a Regatta today so I have the house to myself, and a bonus is the sun is shining.

I didn't hear the kids leave this morning so when I woke up just before 7am I was in a panic they were still here but no, they had already left, so today feels like a double win.

And everything is ok in the world again...well not really, but we can pretend for one small moment.

It is hard to put into words this place, The Sharda Centre in Tuakau.

Tucked away, it is easy to miss. Often, those living nearby are unaware that it even exists. Its unassuming, slightly hidden gateway gives little indication of what lies beyond.

This weekend I attended my third Reiki Master retreat there. My friend Sirpa, a Reiki teacher, facilitated the retreat after returning from Japan earlier this week from her own Reiki retreat. It was an opportunity to hear about her journey and learn from the new teachings she had brought back with her. But it wasn't just about that. It was also about reconnecting with friends, both old and new.

The Sharda Centre would not be here if it were not for the beautiful vision of a woman named Halima, who wanted to create a space for community, welcoming people from all around the world. A haven where people could gather in love, peace, and connection. Her vision was and still is, is to eventually also create a Peace Dome, a non-denominational space that celebrates harmony, unity, and love. Something the world could certainly use more of.

Halima no longer lives on earth but her spirit is always around.

Working energetically in a place like this seems to magnify and multiply everything. While it can be deeply healing and nurturing, it can also stir old emotions and wounds, bringing them into the light to be acknowledged and healed. So today I walked away with a slight headache, a heart full of gratitude, and new teachings that I will bring into my own practice and the Reiki shares that I facilitate.

And now, if you've made it this far, I have a little gift for you.

For the month of June 2026, I'm offering $20 off all 60-minute Reiki sessions, making them just $80. Simply look out for the Blue Moon Reiki Special when booking.

And for those wondering, what exactly is Reiki?

Put simply, Rei is often translated as "universal" and Ki as "life force energy." Reiki is a practice that works with life force energy to support the body's natural capacity for wellbeing, balance, and healing.

Fresh delivery of massage balms today including the
Native Botanicals Recovery Balm.

Here's what Tui Balms has to say about it.

A potent fusion of New Zealand native plant medicine and herbal tradition, crafted as a nourishing massage balm with the added benefit of targeted spot application.

Perfect for easing muscle tension, calming inflammation, and supporting recovery after physical activity, sport, or minor injury. Use it for full-body massage to relax tired muscles or apply to specific areas needing extra care.

The active botanicals—comfrey, kawakawa, pukatea, ongaonga, and mānuka essential oil—work together to promote recovery and comfort. Comfrey soothes and repairs with its renowned anti-inflammatory and tissue-healing properties, kawakawa calms irritation while reducing inflammation, pukatea offers deep analgesic relief, ongaonga, in carefully prepared form, supports circulation and recovery, and mānuka aids in easing muscle tension. Lime essential oil adds a fresh, uplifting finish to each application.

How often do we not give ourselves the time to honour our achievements.

I am my own worst critic. I acknowledge this and try my best to quieten that voice, but this morning I had a huge moment of awareness.

I received an email from a tutor praising an essay I had written. I achieved 98%.

At first I let it sit with me, but then the little cracks started to appear. The doubts slowly settled in, the “oh, but…” thoughts.

One minute I doubt myself, the next I believe in myself. Back and forth.

The thing is, I genuinely enjoyed writing the essay, and this is coming from someone who has always struggled to get thoughts and ideas out into words. In a thinking world, I feel a lot.

This morning I finally allowed myself to truly feel the acknowledgment of success, and I cried.

Not because of the grade itself, but because I realised how hard I have worked to get to this place.

My goal has always been to give what I can in all that I do, and today I am reminding myself that this is more than enough.

And instead of apologizing to Madi who saw her Mumma crying this morning, I am going to thank her instead for sitting by me, and as always so grateful to both my children for supporting me through this stage of life.

Oh and if you want to know what the essay was on, we'll it was a social policy essay based on the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and subsequent amendments. How legislative changes affect people within society and how those impacts are felt within counselling.

Now onto the next essay 🤪 😬 💪🏻
