💚✨ WINTER REMINDER ✨💚

We understand how special the midwife catch ups can be with listening to your pēpi heart beat and catching up but please if you are sick this winter please get in touch to reschedule your midwife appointment.

We have numerous clients we see and deal with vulnerable māmā and pēpi on a daily, Plus have our own health and whānau health to consider. If you are too sick to go to work or do your normal day to day, Please contact your midwife and reschedule! We appreciate the bugs can be unavoidable but keeping our community safe is our top priority.

As LMC Midwives, we do not get sick leave or cover and when one of us goes down it impacts our clients and workload greatly. Lets all work together and reschedule when were under the weather, Phone appointments can be offered for those conversations that just can't wait!

We appreciate you all and the help in keeping our community and whānau safe this winter ✨

Thank you to Emily and whānau for sharing their birth story of Tuāriki their 3rd pēpi supported by our wonderful Gemma at Manaaki Midwives ✨👇

"By 38 weeks, I was more than ready to meet our baby. With two little ones under three, each day was becoming harder, so Gemma came to my home and performed a stretch and sweep at my request. 2 days passed and early hours of the morning on June 21st I woke with mild contractions. After a call and a quick visit around 10am, Gemma was able to stretch me from 2 cm to 4 cm before doing a second sweep and some acupressure. Within an hour, my contractions had become much stronger, and by lunchtime we were heading into hospital.

After a peaceful 9-hour labour, we welcomed our beautiful son, Tuāriki, in the water/bath, on 21/06/2026 at 2:47pm. Although it was the most physically intense labour I’ve experienced, it was also the calmest and most empowering. I still remember Gemma placing Tuāriki on my chest after he was born, a moment that I’ll treasure forever.

From pregnancy through to birth and now postpartum, Gemma has made me feel heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. She always took the time to answer every question, no matter how small, and made me feel completely at ease. She wasn’t just my midwife, she felt like a friend who truly cared about both me and my baby.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Hayley and Jade, and although my interactions with them were brief, they showed the same kindness, warmth, and compassion.

After having my first two babies through the hospital midwife team, I never realised how much continuity of care could change my experience. Manaaki Midwives gave me the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey I had only ever dreamed of having.

Can we believe its July already?!
I saw one of these the other day and thought ooh what a great idea, so spent my evening when the kids were asleep playing with statistic reports!
Its been a baby boy year so far - 17 baby boys earth side and 9 baby girls! A privilege to support 26 whānau welcome their pēpi earth side just from Jan to now.

How lucky am I? 💚
I can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds!
