Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind, it can be held within the body too.
When we experience trauma, stress, or overwhelming life events, our nervous system can remain in a heightened state long after the event has passed. This can show up as muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, chronic pain, anxiety, or a feeling of being disconnected from our bodies.
Massage therapy can provide a safe and nurturing space for the body to relax, helping to calm the nervous system, reduce physical tension, improve body awareness, and support overall wellbeing. While massage is not a replacement for professional mental health treatment, it can be a valuable part of a holistic healing journey.
Healing looks different for everyone, and it’s okay to seek support. 💛
If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available in New Zealand.
