Women are wanting credible health information in menopause….

I was overwhelmed with questions.

As a health professional with over 30 years in health and fitness with a high knowledge base…in areas of specialty…it never ceases to amaze me that people don’t always know…

How to keep well
Where to go for health advice
What causes disease
How to manage menopause symptoms
Contraception vs HRT

It was all covered. My brain 🧠 was fried. It was free. A free event, for a diverse community that lives near me.

A reminder that women need help and my work is important and much needed.

Today I am refilling my cup. Events like this require energy and recovery.

It’s been a week but…

The boot is off!

Celebrating wearing two shoes that are the same.

10 weeks in a moonboot has:

😊 Been frustrating, but essential.
😊 Provided me with renewed empathy for those with an injury.
😊 Made me stiff - all over.
😊 Made me walk all offset.
😊 Seen me be creative with exercise choices.

Has anyone got an injury out there? I see you. I get it.

Let me know in comments how you are doing.

👑 3 Years of Lady Talk. 3 Ways to Support Your Health. 👑

As our King’s Birthday Weekend celebration comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what Lady Talk has become over the past three years.

At its heart, Lady Talk has always been about helping women feel informed, supported, and confident in their health.

So it seems fitting to finish the weekend by sharing the three main ways I currently support women:

📖 LEARN

Lady Talk: A Personal Pursuit With Practice Pearls combines personal experience with nursing knowledge to help women better understand menopause, pelvic health, healthy ageing, disease prevention, bladder and bowel health, and much more.

Many women tell me the book helps them feel more informed, reassured, and empowered to advocate for their own health.

🌿 SOOTHE

Nu Balm is designed to support v***al and vaginal comfort during times of change, including perimenopause and menopause.

For women experiencing dryness, irritation, discomfort, friction, or tissue changes, it can become an important part of their self-care toolkit.

💛 THRIVE

Vitality Lite is my 8-week support programme for women who want personalised guidance through midlife and beyond.

Together we focus on:
✔ menopause education
✔ symptom support
✔ pelvic health
✔ healthy ageing
✔ chronic disease prevention
✔ realistic lifestyle changes that fit real life

Because health isn’t about perfection.

It’s about understanding your body, making informed choices, and taking small steps that add up over time.

Thank you for supporting Lady Talk over the past three years and my book over the past year. I appreciate every woman who has trusted me to be part of her health journey. 💛

👑 The Queen Era celebration ends tonight.

If you’d like more information about the book, Nu Balm, or Vitality Lite, send me a message and I’d be happy to help you find the option that’s right for you.

👣 Sunshine, sea air, and a reminder that health doesn’t have to be perfect.

I’m enjoying some time in beautiful Hawke’s Bay this King’s Birthday Weekend and managed a gentle walk along the Napier waterfront this morning ☀️

What many people don’t know is that I’m also recovering from an unfixed broken leg.

So after my walk, it was back to the hotel to put my feet up the wall and give my body a little help with healing ❤️‍🩹

It reminded me of something I talk about often with women in midlife…

Health isn’t about perfection.

It’s not about having the perfect exercise routine, eating perfectly, sleeping perfectly, or having a body that always cooperates.

It’s about asking:

✨ What can I do today?

Some days that might be a walk by the ocean.

Some days it might be rest.

Some days it might be making a healthier food choice.

Some days it might be finally seeking support for symptoms you’ve been putting up with for years.

This philosophy is one of the reasons I created Vitality Lite.

So many women tell me they know they want to improve their health but feel overwhelmed by where to start.

The truth is, lasting change rarely comes from doing everything at once.

It comes from understanding your health, making realistic changes, and building confidence one step at a time.

This long weekend, perhaps the question isn’t:

“What should I be doing?”

But instead:

💛 What is one thing I can do today to support my health?

I’d love to hear your answer below.

Three years ago, Lady Talk began with a simple goal: to help women better understand their bodies, symptoms, hormones, pelvic health, and their future health.

This King’s Birthday Weekend feels extra special because Lady Talk is celebrating 3 years, and my book, Lady Talk: A Personal Pursuit With Practice Pearls, has officially been out for one year too 📖

Over the past three years I’ve had the privilege of supporting women through menopause and midlife, speaking at events, writing a book, and having countless conversations about healthy ageing, prevention, pelvic health, and living well.

One thing I’ve learned is that women spend decades caring for everyone else, often putting themselves last.

Midlife can be a powerful turning point. A time to focus on your own health, strength, confidence, and future wellbeing.

👑 So this King’s Birthday Weekend, I want to encourage women to step into their Queen Era.

To celebrate, I’ll be sharing a few Lady Talk favourites this weekend, including my book, Nu Balm, and Vitality Lite.

Thank you to every woman who has supported Lady Talk over these past three years. Whether you’ve attended a talk, booked a consultation, followed along online, or read the book, I truly appreciate being part of your health journey 💛

If you’ve been thinking about prioritising your own health, perhaps this long weekend is the perfect time to start. 💛

I’d love to know: What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned about your health in midlife?

Women needed to talk for longer….there was more going on for people than just their blood pressure check or smear today…

I left my position as a Practice Nurse in November 2022 to do things differently. I wanted to focus on women’s healthy aging and I had a strong interest in pelvic health.

By Kings Birthday 2023 I had upskilled in menopause, disease prevention and was on the path to improve incontinence, prolapse, s*xual pain and provide treatment for the Genitourinary syndrome of menopause.

Also on this weekend the Lady Talk clinic in Seatoun Wellington opened and behind the scenes I continued to write ✍️ “Lady Talk” the book.

Women started coming into the clinic with incontinence issues (often unresolved from child birth), painful s*x and prolapse issues.

Many were wanting to know about how to manage menopause symptoms and prevent the diseases their mother had.

Increasingly I could see women were valuing the time, the longer consultations, to go deeper into the private conversations to unpack past trauma or talk about taboo topics they had struggled with for years.

Alleviating patient anxiety through education, and improving their health outcomes by optimizing sleep, nutrition, stress response, physical activity and social connection. Doing this would lower their risk of disease, even if they had a family history of osteoporosis, dementia, heart disease, cancer or stroke.

Slowly the community around me asked me to speak about menopause, healthy aging and pelvic health. With 30 years now in health and fitness and current up to date education I had invested in, I decided speaking would be a regular
gig that was much needed in the community and workplace.

I completed training in lifestyle medicine, advanced my pelvic health training and attended national and international menopause conferences and webinars to bring credible researched information to my speaking and patient consultations.

Lady Talk the book was released in May 2025 (after 4 years of writing), it is now a wonderful health resource in many women’s homes across Australasia.

Moving forward I will explore my life long interest in pharmacology by starting my nurse prescriber pathway in July at Victoria University. Doing this will tighten my clinic days and speaking availability.

The Lady Talk clinic will never become a fast pill service. To me lifestyle is medicine. Sometimes we need both. My patients now are often on a pill because they have the onset of a chronic disease. Management is not about have a pill and run. We need to change our lifestyle too. This is the deeper, longer work that takes time as it requires behaviour change.

Kings Birthday every year is a time for me to stop and reflect see how far I’ve come, but also see how far my patients have come…

✅Now they are enjoying s*x without pain
✅They have lost 10 kilos or more
✅They understand what causes disease
✅They have stopped getting up to p*e at night or during that gym class.
✅They have reduced their prolapse symptoms
✅They know what to look for on their v***a
✅They know what exercise and nutrition to optimize in midlife
✅They have reduced their menopause symptoms.

♥️Most of all they are moving confidently into the 3rd age. That is powerful.

Exercise bites when life doesn’t go to plan…..

Here I am experimenting with a broken leg, thank you to my wonderful physio who has extended my exercise prescription.

Have you been on a stationary bike with a broken leg in a moonboot?

It felt weird as nothing was keeping it on the pedal. Still I managed to do 10 mins, then I did some upper body weights and a quick dip in the sauna.

30 mins was all it took to get my exercise dose. Then I hopped in a taxi 🚕 (as I still can’t drive) to get home again.

The moral of this we story is to plan for a bad week, know what do to when life gives you lemons 🍋.

My plan:

Exercise snacks - 10 mins x 3
Nutrition - plan for when it’s hard.
Sleep - make this your priority
Stress- eliminate - well the bulk of it!
Social - friends are gold aren’t they?
Nature bites - good for the soul

How to you look after you when life gives you lemons?

Heading into another busy week… 💛

After the NZNO women’s health conference, clinic this week, and delivering an online talk on bone and sleep health across NZ — I keep thinking about the same thing:

Women in midlife are carrying a lot.

Poor sleep.
Pelvic health worries.
Weight gain.
Brain fog.
Loss of confidence in their body.

And so many are quietly trying to push through it all while still looking after everyone else.

What really stood out to me this week is how much women are wanting support that feels practical, safe and real.

Not pressure.
Not perfection.

Just someone helping them understand what’s happening in their body and what they can actually do about it.

So as we head into this week, maybe ask yourself:

✨ What support do I need right now?

I’ve created a free guide around exercise in midlife and protecting pelvic health if you’d like a place to start.

And if you’re wanting a safe place to ask the more personal questions — come join my Lady Talk community 💛
