A changing of the guard at Dietitians NZ. 💚

At conference, we had the opportunity to acknowledge Tracy Browne and thank her for the leadership, time and commitment she has given to Dietitians NZ as Chair. Tracy has been such an important part of our organisation, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed to Council and to the profession.

We’d also like to acknowledge Helen Gibbs and Alyanna Suerte Felipe for their contribution to Council. Thank you both for the time, insight and support you have given to Dietitians NZ.

As we look ahead, we’re delighted to welcome Frances Arenhold as our new Chair, alongside our two new Council members, Katrina Dixon and Jamila Chen (陳). We’re excited to have their experience and perspectives around the table as we move into the next chapter for Dietitians NZ.

Strong professional organisations rely on people being willing to step up, contribute and help shape what comes next. We’re so grateful to those who give their time to support Dietitians NZ - and we’d love to see more of our community put their hand up and get involved in the future.

If that could be you, keep an eye out for future opportunities to contribute. 💚

Thank you, Tracy, for everything you’ve contributed to Dietitians NZ, and welcome Frances, Katrina, Jamila and our new Council.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

That felt particularly fitting as dietitians and nutritionists came together last week for the Dietitians NZ Conference 2026. 💚

At the end of last week, we learnt, connected, challenged our thinking and shared ideas - while strengthening the relationships that sit at the heart of the nutrition profession.

A huge thank you to our speakers, presenters, delegates, organising committee, sponsors and exhibitors who helped make the conference possible. Thank you also to the University of Auckland for hosting us and providing such a welcoming setting for two days of learning and connection.

And it was wonderful to have our colleagues from Dietitians Australia with us, continuing to strengthen connections across the Tasman.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who joined us - we hope you left with new ideas, new connections and plenty to take back into your mahi. 💚

Today’s workshop: Whakatō Kākano – Sowing Seeds for Equity & Cultural Safety in Dietetic Practice.

Led by Te Kāhui Manukura o Kai Ora, today is an opportunity for learning, reflection and action as we explore how dietetic practice can better support equity, cultural safety and hauora for Māori.

Across the day, you'll hear about a variety of research, engage in kōrero, explore practice-based case studies and contribute to conversations about new ways of working in dietetic care across Aotearoa.

We look forward to a day of thoughtful discussion, shared learning and reflection.

Join us later today at 2:00pm for the abstract sessions, with three concurrent streams running in the same rooms as yesterday’s concurrent sessions.

This is a great opportunity to hear emerging research, practice insights and new ideas from across our dietetic community.

There are also abstract posters on display in the foyer, so make sure you take some time to have a look and support the work being shared.

Check the programme and choose the stream that interests you most.
