We are sharing the information below on behalf of ACC, given this is of importance to a number of Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau | Occupational Therapists.
𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗖𝗖’𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
As you may be aware ACC has been reviewing how we assess the support people need after an injury, so the process is simpler, more consistent, and better aligned to what matters most for clients, whānau, and the providers who support recovery (Needs assessment and social rehabilitation https://www.acc.co.nz/for-providers/provider-news-and-events/health-sector-engagement/needs-assessment-social-rehabilitation ).
We know the current needs assessment system has become complex, fragmented, and inconsistent, contributing to rising costs, variable client experience, and pressure on scheme sustainability.
Over the past few months, we've undertaken research and analysis, engaged with providers and stakeholders, reviewed current assessment services, investigated international approaches, and explored opportunities to improve quality, consistency and client outcomes.
On 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮:𝟯𝟬𝗽𝗺-𝟯:𝟯𝟬𝗽𝗺 we’ll be hosting a webinar on this project, attendees will hear about:
• the project’s progress so far
• what’s coming up for current assessment contracts
• how you can share your ideas on improving the services.

The cost of social rehabilitation services continues to increase despite a stable level of claims. We’re focussing on robust needs assessments to ensure every client receives the right support at the right time.
