🎨 Calling d/Deaf & Disabled Artists in Wellington!

Want 8 weeks to develop your creative practice? Toi Aro is offering a part-time Artist Development Residency for one d/Deaf and/or disabled artist in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

✨ What you’ll get:
• A studio to develop your work
• $3,750 stipend (before tax)
• Paid interpreter, mentor, companion or support person of your choice
• An opportunity to share your work-in-progress at the end of the residency

The residency runs 26 October to 20 December 2026.

🎨 Open to artists working in areas such as writing, painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, photography, film and video.

📅 Applications close 5pm, Tuesday 15 September 2026

You don’t need an arts degree but you do need an existing arts practice.

Excited to announce that Hearing New Zealand, with whom we are proudly affiliated, has been accepted as a member of the World Hearing Forum!

We are looking forward to learning more about hearing loss advocacy and education, and to gaining insights that will help us better support New Zealanders living with hearing loss and hearing challenges.

Together, we can continue working towards a future where everyone has access to the information, support, and services they need for better hearing health.

We are very proud to advise Hearing New Zealand has been accepted to be a member of the World Hearing Forum.
