Meet Bruno -Army engineer, emergency management expert, lifestyle block owner, and professional avoider of burpees!
Originally from Ohope Beach, Bruno spent 10 years as an Engineer Officer in the Army before moving into Emergency Management, where he's spent the last decade dealing with everything from biosecurity and food safety to natural disasters.
These days, you'll find him living just outside Greytown with his wife Mel, two English Bulldogs, and a Persian "Grumpy Cat" who definitely thinks it's in charge of the house!
When he's not at the gym, he's usually tackling the never ending jobs on the property or cooking something delicious.
In the gym, Bruno likes to keep things simple. His favourite exercise is simply a press up while his least favourites are burpees, wall balls, and running. In fact, if he could ban one workout forever, it would be a circuit that combines all three!
Despite Army injuries and a couple of grumpy patella tendons keeping him grounded these days, Bruno hasn't lost his love for training. In fact, he's become more open minded than ever and is currently loving learning kettlebell and landmine exercises. For Bruno, training is about much more than fitness. “If I don’t train, I really notice it.“
One of his proudest achievements is leading teams across the Pacific and Middle East during his Army career, representing New Zealand and helping people when they needed it most.
We're stoked to have Bruno as part of our gym whānau, he’s hardworking, humble, always keen to learn, and always hoping burpees aren't in Saturday morning’s class 🤪
