Meet Neil Preston - one of life’s real treasures! He’s proving it’s never too late to make fitness part of your routine!
For most of his life, Neil had a very good reason for NOT joining a gym…
“He didn’t have time! (Can we just point out he was such an outstanding teacher and more at Greytown School PTA )
Fast forward to semi-retirement and, well… that excuse wasn’t going to cut it anymore!
Luckily for Neil, HealthFit Greytown is just a 5-minute cycle from home and what started as something he thought he ‘should do’ has become a really important part of his week.
Neil’s goal isn’t about lifting the biggest weights or chasing a number on the scales. It’s much more important than that, he wants to stay active and keep enjoying all the things he loves doing for as long as possible and he’s already ticking off some pretty cool wins!
One thing Neil hadn’t been able to do properly before joining the gym? Sit-ups.
With the right technique, practice and a little consistency, he can now smash them out. His favourite workout? Our Saturday morning Strength Class which he describes as a great workout, lots of fun and something that gives him a real sense of achievement. He loves to get a phone call when he hasn’t turned up to class!
And like many of us, Neil has had his share of injuries, mostly from activities outside the gym. His current goal is simple.
Stay strong. Stay mobile. Stay injury-free!
And his advice to other men his age who are thinking about getting back into exercise?
“Don’t leave joining too long” and we couldn’t agree more Neil!
Neil, we absolutely love having you as part of our HealthFit Greytown family. ❤️
You’re proof that fitness isn’t about age, it’s about giving yourself the best chance to keep doing the things you love and ageing well.
Keep cycling in, keep smashing those sit-ups and keep showing up, Neil!

Meet our amazing Member of the month 'Robyn Laing' .... Outside the gym, she’s a busy wife and mum of two, a hockey player, keen equestrian,farmer… and, in her own words, a “glorified Uber driver!”
With a busy life, she knows that if she wants to get her training done, she needs to do it early and before the day gets away from her.
She loves her early morning classes, not just for the workout, but for the people. There’s plenty of encouragement, a bit of friendly competition and, of course, a few laughs along the way!
Since starting at Healthfit, she’s noticed huge improvements in her strength, fitness and mobility, which have helped her both on the hockey field and in the saddle. 🏑🐴
Her secret to staying consistent?
“I get it done early before anything gets in the way.”
And her advice to other busy mums who think they simply don’t have time to exercise?
“Just give it a go. It might be hard at first, but once you get into a routine, you’ll miss it when you don’t go.” (we love that!)
For her, the Healthfit community has also been a huge part of the journey, "The gym community and coaches are more like family. They keep me accountable and keep pushing me to put my best foot forward.”
And now she tells me there’s a new goal on the horizon… to beat her Benchmark Challenge time!

Complete Run Coaching is launching, and you're invited!

We're throwing open the doors for two free launch events, one in Greytown, one in Wellington. Come see what Complete Run Coaching is all about: a better running experience, built on assessment led, science backed coaching that helps you reach your running goals.

📍 Greytown: Saturday 15 August, 11am to 1pm, HealthFit Greytown (30 Bidwills Cutting Road).

📍 Wellington: Saturday 22 August, 11am to 1pm, HealthFit Wellington (18 Allen Street, Te Aro).

It's free, and everyone is welcome. Bring a friend, bring your running group, bring whoever wants to come along. You don't need to be a HealthFit member to attend.
Wander through hands on stations at your own pace, try as many or as few as you like:

*Run form and biomechanics screening
*Force plate testing
*Strength and stability screening with WSM Physiotherapy
*Treadmill shoe fitting with Shoe Clinic
*Massage demo with Leni Can
*Nutrition advice and tastings
*Run club sign ups with Wellington Scottish
